I received an email the other day for this promo:

“When your business signs up to IHG Business Edge and a company representative stays at least one qualifying night by 14 May 2024, your business will be rewarded 5,000 IHG One Rewards points.”

Further down in the email, it mentions instant IHG Gold after first stay.

When I go to the VABF portal, I can also see the promo but says IHG Silver after first stay (which is not that useful other than it does prevent IHG points expiring).

Has anyone signed up for this? How does it work in practice?

Here’s a link direct to IHG but I‘d use the VABF portal link - if eligible.

Edit: I’ve signed up. Being a Global program, it doesn’t ask for an ABN. Apparently it’ll take 5 Bdays to get back to me. Once approved, other “employees” can link their IHG account to the company account and will also be eligible for instant Silver/Gold - whichever it is - after their first stay.

Approval email came in last night. It appears to operate a bit like QBR and VABR. There‘s a primary SME account/login with dashboard and you can invite employees to associate with that account and use the unique corporate code.

A dummy booking for a BNE hotel I’ve already booked was showing about 5% discount on public rate. But I booked using the VISA 20% discount.

Now to see how to get the instant IHG Gold for employees after one stay. SYD+1 might have to do a mattress run somewhere significantly cheaper than just buying AMB for instant Platinum….

But is gold worthwhile compared to buying AMB.

Exactly my earlier point but if someone is staying somewhere anyway and can get Gold for free it’s not bad. I still had many an upgrade as Gold.

I signed up using the link and got mildly grilled by IHG, who seemed very focused on why my business doesn't have a website. It's just me, and I don't advertise for business. Niche area, word of mouth works fine for generating revenue but apparently NOT IHG Business memberships. Had to issue a letter authorising myself to get a business account with IHG.

Their portal also wouldn't accept that my business name could start with a numeral.

Got there in the end, though.
