Signature Card -> Premier Card

Last month I cancelled my citibank card because the $49 rewards fee came up
Very sensible. So called "rewards" are completely worthless now. I mean even more so that before now that the airlines are flying nowhere you want to go and have removed many of the perks of upgrades due to cost cutting to try and stave off bankruptcy. It's certainly not worth paying $49/yr for points. I'm going to make gold status upgrade this year before my anniversary, but it too will be worthless, since I won't be able to travel on a plane that makes gold status any more prestigious than back row economy before they expire it again and take it away, so again, worthless.

Thinking of killing this card, even though I'm on a 'free for life' because I actually extract zero value from it now.

Am I missing something exciting?

The whole hotel signature thing is rubbish, rates are not competitive, point earning is cough, priority pass I don't care about etc etc

Nothing for me yet... Can you share the content of the email?
Information and FAQs on this page, which was linked in my notification e-mail.
Citi Mastercard - Citibank Australia

I think it's likely to be the MC World product for the Citi Premier (ex Signature) card (anyone seen this, and knows for sure?), whereas others on this forum have confirmed the MC World Elite product for the Citi Prestige Card

Cheers,
Matt.

Diners was being given out for free like 15 years ago. I didn't take it because I did not see the value of it. Then they introduced free airport lounges around the world.

AmEx released Edge, people thought Edge was so much better value, so they cancelled their Reserve. Then devaluation came in (where Singapore Air 1 mile went from requiring 1 AmEx point to 2 AmEx points), where Edge was devalued while the Reserve was not. Unfortunately the Reserve is no longer for sale. I kept it because of the lesson with Diners.

So, you have this Citi free for life. Do you think those 2 lessons above would apply to you and you would regret your decision later on?

I just got an email saying this card is switching to Mastercard at renewal.
I got that notification months ago, which is why I recently requested all new cards so I could register the new Mastercards with Qantas for that offer of theirs. When they arrived, I got a Gold Mastercard Plus debit card, a standard pewter coloured Visa Premier card and a bog standard blue coloured Diners Club card.

They probably have a stockpile of Visa card blanks they want to work through before issuing new Mastercard versions is my guess. I have not seen a Mastercard F+FFFFL Signature (now Premier) card in the wild yet.

I just wish they would Google pay em all so I can use via phone!!!

Yep. which Visa or MC card earns more?

If you can get another Visa/VC card that has a better yield including the annual fee, i wanna know about it.

As a VA passenger without a lounge, I used the Priority Pass at BNE yesterday. Very handy. I'll be looking at Amex cards that have free PP when I return from the wilderness. Seems like a good alternative to the same old lounge if that comes back.

I'm amazed they were open. I was looking at the seven or so "lounges" (actually just commercial eateries in the terminal concourse open to the general public) in Melbourne last week and not one of them was open.

I received my card today. It’s a Mastercard World product.
You need to re-sign up for Priority Pass (whatever that’s worth now!)

Here's a cheeky question... anyone who has the Citi Prestige Card and Priority Pass note from the pack able to share the Priority Pass invitation code over PM (presuming it looks like a generic one); I'm curious if it will work to sign up using the Premier Card with that code and get elevated PP benefits!
