Been looking at taking a 5 day break in Singapore flying CNS/SIN/CNS on Silk Air but gee Im seeing some very negative reviews like aircraft condition, food and service, I'm wondering why?
Similar experience to myself. Can be hit or miss with the food. The staff are really polite and try to do their best but just aren’t quite as polished as Denali stated.Ive always referred to Silk Air as SQ poorer cousin. The FAs are no where near as polished (but are any when compared to a SQ FA?) but they try and the food can be hit or miss. Worse meal Ive ever received (departing Manado, couldnt eat it) and one of the best meals Ive ever eaten (departing Chengdu) was Silk Air.
I do wonder how it will reflect on SIA's brand once the integration is complete. i've noticed the well worn aircraft in the past but expectations are as such given it was SilkAir branded - will they go to the expense of sharpening things up or will they rely on people recognising the regional routes as having a different level of hard and soft product?
Regardless, my experiences of SilkAir have always been perfectly acceptable for what it was - a reasonably priced regional carrier.

We may have just got a poor one last time, who knows. As I said we have flown with them a couple of times CNX-SIN and the food was excellent. The lounge at DAD, think it was the Orchid lounge? had a small collection of food and most of the offerings were quite nice and tasty. The seats on the 737 were very comfortable in J and the staff tried their best to get the beverages and meals out ASAP but seemed a little disorganised. I’d have no hesitation flying with them again on the same route or any other regional route.Hmm, concerned now. Was about to book DAD-SIN for April as flight times were better than Jetstar, and really like earning KrisFlyer points.
So maybe eat first? As long as we and our bags get to SIN on time and together I’ll be happy enough.
