Silver will no longer have priority check-in on domestic

Interesting move and shows that every airline is subject to changing the benefits of their loyalty scheme.

I can't remember the last time I stood in a line to check in/drop bags at QF though (even as a bronze)...NGCI ftw!! ;)

One of the benefits that was very useful when the checkin lines were long back when I had silver.I would be quite annoyed with Virgin for changing this had I not spent thousands of dollars on coughpy meals in Bussiness class just so I can look forward to lining up with someone with a Flexi fare.

I think someone should take the reigns & form a protest action group about this decision, perhaps, by chance Virgin may retract the decision of parameter jostling & the 'unloved silver party" could redeem their well being
Just a thought..

remembering that JB is only doing what he had put in place for QF. Mirrored airlines IMHO

I said elesewhere once, that in a few years time they will look much like each other. They are just to that point from opposite directions....

I have already fired off my first email to Velocity - not expecting a real reply - I have never had one yet - but if enough people grizzle it may have an effect. I noticed that they had extended the validity of the two silver lounge visits from 3 months to 6 months. Too late for me though, I missed out by two days under the three month rule. Quite why they need to expire at all (other than with your status) is beyond me.

some serious whinging going on on their Facebook page but at the end of the day, there needs to be a level of distinction between silver, gold and plat. I thought they were very generous when i hit silver with the two lounge passes and the priority check in....

I'm silver due to the soft landing from Gold just passed.

Priority checkin was the best benefit IMO but you know what? It was a luxury that Silver had it in the first place, and it was only a matter of time before it was stripped away. How many other airlines allow Silvers priority check-in?

Aslong as they keep discounted lounge membership their silver tier is better than QF.

That assumes they have a lounge. Still waiting for a DRW lounge. Even a voucher for coffee and cake at Aromas for the redeye to Brisneyland or Sing Sing would be appreciated.

In Australia .. Qantas?

What will be enhanced next?

Why cant airlines leave FF benifits at the same level and or increase them rather than trying to cut them.

I see this as a genuine benefit increase for Gold/Plats. Less pax in priority lines. Silver is not as important as Platinum.

Suppose NGCI nullifies most of that, unless you are a Dom->Int connection or a special case, where you need to line up anyway.

A handful of FFPs give their first elite tiers ("Silvers") priority check-in at the airport (for example, DL, all oneworld Rubies).

As a consolation.. you have warm weather & a bustling well stocked pub at airport full of Coldies..

With kiosks in LHR checking in people, it wouldn't surpirse me if QF activated Dom to Int flights soon. Although i have no idea for the reasoning as to why they don't have it now.
