Prior to the official inaugural destination of the A350 to Amsterdam in May 2016, Singapore Airlines flew the aircraft to KUL and CGK for crew familiarization. What better way to be one of the first to fly the A350?

Boarding was smooth, with a fairly light load, with only the forward Business cabin about one-fifth occupied.

The seat felt slightly smaller than the one on the 777-300ER. Great looking seat with lots of storage space, but with the same issues of the narrow foot well as per the 2006 product.

I think this is the best feature of this aircraft, the sense of space afforded by doing away with the centre overhead bins.

After a long taxi from gate E11 of Terminal 2 to Runway 02C, a smooth take-off run and then turn to the south for the short-hop to CGK. Another very noticeable feature is how quiet this aircraft is, probably more so than the A380.

I found the new entertainment system easier to use, particular the more responsive touch screen control set, compared to that one the 777-300ER.

The crew confirmed my BTC order of Nasi Lemak (coconut rice with fried chicken, egg, cucumber, peanuts and ikan bilis (fried anchovies)), and this was served soon after take off.

A very tasty dish. This is one of the most popular breakfast items in this part of the world.

Overall, a great flight to experience this new aircraft. Wish I could be on the inaugural to Amsterdam!

Nice pics. Bit surprised to see plastic tubs for the accompaniments for a J meal. But overall looks pretty good.
