I received emails from Singapore Airlines saying they had changed the plane type I am on and could not give me my preferred exit row seating on those routes anymore and that I would be refunded the money I paid for the seats. But is there anything I can do, I really wanted those seats! Can I request a full refund and rebook the trip, it is a "sweet deal" and one leg is a "flexi saver". If you have any ideas, I would be very grateful, thanks.

Interesting question.

I notice it is possible to select seats before buying your ticket. If you only purchased this flight because emergency exits were available (and wouldn't have otherwise), I'd say it is certainly worth mentioning this to them and see what they say. Rather than having to cancel, perhaps they can move you to a flight where those seats are available.

Their counter argument is likely to be that 'seats aren't guaranteed'. But I'd press them on the above (perhaps first by phone, then by email).

Thanks! I ended up emailing and then calling SIA, such was my distress.. :) I was allocated exit row seats with no further charges on the changed plane, so all good!
