Looking at taking a break in Singapore in March and looking at accommodation options for Singapore.

Historically have stayed @ the Fairmont (formerly Raffles Plaza) however have cheap option via a work rewards program with Swissotel.

just dont want to be disappointed, any other recommendations would be fantastic, not Marina Bay Sands as I'm there for the GP this year.

Thanks and safe travels people.

The Swissotel and Fairmont used to be the one and same hotel (when it was a Westin), so not much difference, although if you can get access to the Stamford Suites cheap I would go for it, I was a regular there for some time and enjoyed their facilities and private club (living room).

I have stayed at Swissotel Stamford a few times I have been pretty happy with it. Although it is starting to show its age. I would happily stay there again. It sharing the same building with Fairmont confused me at first.

There is another Swissotel in Singapore - Swissotel Merchant Court. It is in Clarke Quay. But I have never stayed there.

I think the Fairmont has had a few more renovations since it was a Westin (2006/7?) IIRC. The rooms are a bit nicer but I haven't stayed in the Swissotel in a while, it's mostly been the Fairmont or Fullerton.

From memory the renovations were done back in 2003, the rooms look the same, I know some updates were done in 2010 but both former properties have not changed much when it comes to the rooms.

I have stayed at this one a few times and it is a good choice. It has a great pool, and the Club is very good.

Have a look at the Pan Pacific (Marina Bay). The service is top notch and it's just recently been renovated.

I can recommend the Intercontinental or Holiday Inn Orchard Centre (used to be parkview). Different styles of hotel and different locations.

The club lounge at the intercontinental is great, a smaller hotel and still in a handy location. Walk across the road to Bugis markets, attached to a shopping precinct which doesn't impact on the hotel and its a 15 minute walk to Marina Bay/Suntec City

Holiday Inn is a minutes walk to Orchard Road, great for the kids with a good pool and a focus on families. Stayed there 11 nights over xmas and had a great time, they have a club area which is okay but does have free access to a good range of beers (asahi, heineken, budweiser, Kilkenny, Tiger, Stella and Guiness) :)

Clarke Quay is really convenient to many restaurants and night life. We always stay there. Merchant Court and Novotel are both good.

I've stayed at Fullerton and Swissotel, both as one-night stop overs after an economy (!) flight from CDG. Fullerton was a little too much for a bath and sleep stay.

We had a hotel mix-up - our Raffles booking was accidentally cancelled (blame Platinum Amex Travel) and Swissotel took us in on 30 minutes' notice at 9.00am in the morning. So in terms of customer service, I recommend Swissotel highly. They are also was central to shops, which is great. If I was staying for a week, Fullerton would be my choice.

Hope you have a great trip

I've also stayed at the Swissotel Merchant Court (Clarke Quay), and would stay there again. I like its location best, it's close to the metro, and reasonable value for what you get.

Stayed many times at the FS however, this is will be our first time at FBH.....looks good.

Also like the MO.

Well done.. Look forward to forthcoming TR on both.. :D

Recent stays for me have been at the Conrad (x2) and the Royal Plaza on Scotts. Both hotels provided good stays. Conrad a better hotel, but RPoS still good, and better located in Scotts Rd.

Lounge at Conrad is IMHO great, RPoS lounge is also OK. Breakfasts brilliant at Conrad (ice-cream available :)), good at RPoS (no bacon available - presumably halal :( )

I regularly fly to Singapore have stayed at many hotels, I came across the OASIA Hotel in Novena close to the MRT which is under the hotel underpass. We stayed at the club level which includes coughtail hour from 6pm to 8pm and is well worth it, especially for the Service, food and Drinks provided. But also during the day you are welcome to help yourself to the non alcohol drinks. But your room has a mini fridge which includes drinks free as part of your stay. The area is quiet and only 2 stops to Orchard RD. I have stayed at Marina Bay Sands and other surrounding hotels but for the price and privileges given at OASIA it's worth the stay. I have a couple of photos that I had taken during my stay for your viewing, it's a very relaxing Hotel, which has been around for only about 2 years.
