QF cancelled my QF2/1 booking at the end of October yesterday. So they must not be expecting to fly any A380/F flights then.

One of the 'senior' Fed Govt ministers (who's name I did not catch) said yesterday that the international borders would not be re-opening until early 2021. I suspect Q was given advance notice which led to the 'Arizona long term storage' announcement.

Looking at the silver lining - lucky that CV did not happen in 2019 otherwise there'd be even less refurbed Q A380s!

OT - so much for Q 'niceness' got a warning yesterday that one of our children's QFF balance expires on June 30th - no extensions offered, nothing. Not sure if Amex Rewards can be transferred to Q yet?

I thought I read someway as long as the account gained a point then the points balance was extended.

Maybe you could do a family transfer of 100 points to the child. Don't know for a fact it would work. Another AFFer could probably give guidance.

Install Qantas Wellbeing and walk some steps with the app linked to the relevant account. A cost free way of earning the 1 point needed to extend the expiry date for another 18 months.

I am looking forward to the tv episode covering this event - imagine the damage (as commented in the article) if the missing 220kg turbine ring had flown off sideways instead of vertically. They say flying off vertically was purely by chance. There was around a 1 in 5 chance that it would have destroyed the plane by flying off into the airframe (possible arc of fatal damage).

Apparently at today's online CAPA Live Forum Alan Joyce said that they think they will reactivate all of the A380s. Hopefully he's right.

Mr Joyce also said all QFi passengers would have to be vaccinated before they could be accepted for carriage.

AFAIK, not being enforced from 19 April 2021 for resumption of Aus-NZ flights.

Unfortunately, that's not how it works in Australia. Qantas is a business, Alan is in charge and they can choose who they do and don't want to do business with. If a customer is unhappy then they'll just have to go elsewhere. Whilst not as controversial, REX required masks on planes as early as July last year, you didn't have one, you didn't fly - simple.

Likewise, businesses have a duty of care for their customers and employees, it wouldn't surprise me if QF is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of businesses requiring a vax (although it'll obviously need to be available more widespread first).

Anyone who thinks they're going to be allowed to travel overseas (excluding NZ) without a vax is dreaming. Many countries are already making it a requirement and it'll only get more widespread as the rollout continues. Obviously, like masks, there will be some who can't partake due to genuine medical reasons and in those cases, they will be exempt.

His QF bio reads inter alia: "Mr Joyce spent eight years at Aer Lingus, where he held roles in sales, marketing, IT, network planning, operations research, revenue management and fleet planning." He was at Aer Lingus from 1998-1996.

So any marketing days are long behind him. Doesn't mean he can't spin with the best of them but marketing isn't a big part of his career, especially this millennium.
