Skiing Queenstown, advice please?

I have rented a house in NZ a couple of years ago (not Queenstown) via this website, and was quite happy with it. I have also rented a house in Queenstown via a 'budget' motel and was quite happy with it, but it's too long ago for the specifics to necessarily be relevant.

Hey all Sorry to bring back an old thread but I just wanted to say thanks I got back from the trip on Sunday and it was brilliant.

Some of the advice that worked well
Hire a car personally the drive up to the Remarkables isn’t that bad. Tried Fergburger however Devil burger seemed just as good without the que… Renting a house was a great move as it gave our group our own space and privacy.

We Skied at The Remarkables, Coronet Peak and Cardrona. Personally I enjoyed Cardrona and Coronet the most as they catered to my skill levels the best and has slightly longer runs. However all three could have used a bit more snow.

We also survived being in Queenstown whilst the Sydney uni trip was there.

As for the flights, some of which involved JQ, all went pretty well and didn’t end up in a disaster. Was actually impressed when we made a connection from a domestic arrival in Auckland at 11:55 and still got on our flight to Melbourne which left at 12:55

All in I would be more than happy to ski in Queenstown again.

Good to hear you enjoyed it. Can't say I understand all the fuss about fergburger... fergbaker pies were pretty good though.

Fergburger was good when it was small and a secret, now it’s massive it’s just not worth it. Similar experience with Patagonia Chocolates, sure they’re still good… but it’s a hassle getting in the door sometimes now :(

If you were after pies, Eat Humble Pie (across from The Station) is a new and small entrant with some crazy ideas for pie contents. Certainly worth a visit to anyone there. And yes, I know the owner.

Cardrona and Treble Cone are nice ski fields, though as a snowplougher(?) my thighs will never forgive me :(

Treble Cone is only good if you are an advanced skier/boarder. Cardrona is good for the intermediates, with longer and mostly pretty wide runs to practice and tune up your skills. Coronet Peak is nice and close to QT, and works out well for a lazy day.
