SkyBus gone up again [Up to $23.90 one way]

Who does that?!

And even then, they would be half the distance if the stop was in the closest corner of the building instead of hidden away as far away as possible in the opposite corner.

Geez Kremmen, 2 posts in 24 hours! Nearly tripled your total posts in 9 years!

Another journey on 901 and the train it's a bit of a hike from Qantas then to the bus stop, bus then a walk in the tunnel at Broad Meadows then train around the city loop to Southern cross,

I guess I had the time but it was a bit of a hike.

Now on a Vline regional train to Ballarat, with myki this is going to cost me less than a trip on the Skybus.

I must be allergic to paying crazy Skybus prices, about to board the train to Craigieburn.

When I used my Skybus 10 trip ticket on Saturday I was told that I had one trip left and that I could top it up again with another 10 trips. If I did then the expiry date on the remaining trip would also be pushed out.

I haven't topped up yet but I learned 2 things:
1. You can actually top up these tickets - I have always just bought a new card
2. It's a handy way to push out the expiry date

2. It's a handy way to push out the expiry date
They're just hoping that all those unused trips will add up and eventually, "donated" to the company.

And like some others before me, an old skybus ticket popped up, and realised how expensive it is now.

Another trip avoiding Skybus at least one way.

I am making 2 trips this month to Melbourne just spreading my return ticket over the 2 weekends and using the 901/Metro instead.

The $1 return is a saving and the 500 points from VA is nice but still not a big enough inducement

I notice on the website that it says the 10 trip tickets are non-transferable; is this the case in practice or can you pass it on to others in your family etc when you are note travelling?

Standing on this rubbish bus because no seats left and in heavy traffic on the tulla. God I hate Melbourne and its lack of a direct train from the airport to the city. Skybus sucks

There's just a barcode scan when you get on, no ID check, so I'm sure you'd be able to.

Opposite of my experience this morning at 9.30am - I turned up after getting my bags to solid lines of pax - probably more than 80 and up rocks a double decker and a (double) stretch. We all got on but there weren't any spare seats. Still better than driving...and with my first meeting at 607 Collins, it was an easy walk from the terminus.

For a while, I thought either the Victorian state government or SkyBus had banned standing.

The speed limit on much or all of the tollway or freeway has been reduced to 80kmh (from 100kmh) but if luggage moved at that speed, it would still be very dangerous.

No question that Melbourne needs an airport train. Sydney's isn't a dedicated one but is now a huge success. Brisbane's has fewer trains per hour and so isn't as good, but is moderately successful. We know JohnK uses it.

Yes, they definitely banned standing for a while. In fact, as you arrive at your destination the driver normally announces that you should remains seated until the bus has stopped.

Passes are definitely transferable but you can't scan more than once per trip so if more than one of you is travelling you have to have 2 separate tickets, which is a bit of a pain.

Most of the Tulla road works problem can be avoided, as can standing, by going the Broadmeadows route.

I arrived near midnight so the Broadmeadows route not an option. I used it on the way out there the other day and all went well.

Well maybe they did ban standing but I was standing last night. The trip was rubbish. Such an overpriced service.

I was about to post a thread about the double VA points for Skybus, 500 isn't bad for a ticket I was going to buy anyway.

I actually didn't know Skybus gave VA points at all so a double promo was a bonus!
