SkyTeam Status Match - ITA Airways

another perk is that you can gift your partner status 1 level below your own 😒

Yeah, it’s one of only 2 perks I’ve used.
I’ve had Executive for a couple of years now and despite dozens of SkyTeam flights I reckon I’ve only managed to get 1 other small perk from it.

Lounge access, free luggage and seat selection are why I joined 😂

We only fly J so already have that and as SkyTeam status doesn’t allow access to domestic lounges it is pretty useless in Indonesia and Vietnam where we mainly travel with SkyTeam. Came in handy though when AF wanted to charge a fee for seat selection on a J redemption though

Anyone thinking of doing this match - note that while ITA is a 'Skyteam member', they don't have bilateral agreements with them.

What this means is that you may not get any elite status benefits like free bags, seat selection, or lounge access if ITA does not agree with the airline.

So, if you plan a quick trip to Bali on Garuda to test-drive your new ITA 'Skyteam' status, you may as well fly Jetstar where your ITA status will be just as valuable.

Oh and just found out that for us to sit together for free, I can't pick row 3 because my wife can only pick row 18 for free and they are not linked like QF or VA (they want EUR24 for a 50 min flight) even though same booking.
At least we got luggage and lounge free 🤦‍♂️
I shouldn't complain given it was a free status match 😜

Just received the email confirming my match to "Club Executive Reserved" from my expired QR Plat. Nice. Not sure what the reserved bit means though.

Hopefully some good can be extracted from it.

I think you will find you are just “Executive” status, the Executive Reserve appears to be another program where they upsell you stuff

When I looked at applying, I first logged into my existing ITA account. I was successful in the original status match in 2022 or whenever it was. I've never taken an ITA flight, never partaken in another match and I'm still top tier for another few months.

They have extended it numerous times
