Is anyone else annoyed by the new Emirates policy about business class lounge access?

Gold members flying economy are no longer given access to the Emirates lounge in Dubai airport (can access all Emirates lounges in other airports, just not the 'home base') but rather sent to another lounge that is a much lower standard.

If you travel to Dubai on Business, but then travel around the region in Economy (short flights, company policy) you are stuck with the inferior lounge.

The new policy was introduced with no notice, so members that maintain / earn Gold status during 2004 don't receive the benefits they were used to, or promised.

Welcome to AFF TooMuchFlying :)

Unfortunately Emirates arent the only airline to do this. At Singapore Airline's home base in SIN their own KrisFlyer Elite Golds are relegated to the inferior Premier lounge. Only PPS and passengers travelling in first and business are allowed in Silver Kris lounge. In USA most elites arent allowed access to their own lounges unless either paid for the club or travelling internationally.

As for the lack of notice about changes (I am presuming this is correct) - this is not good. Unfortunately most frequent flyer programs have a clause allowing variation of terms and conditions at any time.

TooMuchFlying,

having a look at the latest newsletter. This is being done while they build the new lounge and is not a long term change.

I imagine this is what it is going to be like at LAX shortly :(
