Snacks for every passenger on VA

Don't like this new snack service.

First flights on flexis BNE-Syd both ways. Corn chips up and mousse back. 4pm flight outbound so was offered a pick of the bar. 3pm flight back and no coke, sorry $4. I'm sorry, but that's a joke.
I thought flexis were entitled to a meal not a snack.

I have a couple of flexis booked OOL-SYD-MEL and will be interesting to see what is offered.

On non-Golden Triangle Routes they have given me a snack similar to what they'd offer on a BNE/SYD/MEL Route + A Drink.... Gone are the sandwiches/wraps/"Meal" - Time to start eating more at The Lounge beforehand....?

Toasted Sandwiches ;)

I don't know... its either that, go hungry or leave the comforts of The Lounge and enter the void of where everyone is and spend $$$ for food...

Oh, and something about eating before you arrive at the airport - But c'mon, who has time for that :P

Well yes, sandwiches too.

Eating before getting to the airport is not always an option

1. Morning flight, up at 5am and straight to airport for a 7am flight then off to work, so most people want to eat at the airport/on-board
2. Evening flight, leave work/home at 5pm get to the airport for a 7pm flight, fly home arrive 9-10pm and then go home, which means a 10-11pm arrive and you may not have eaten since 12-1pm

Good food either on-board on in the lounge is essential and my loyalty to an airline is pretty much based on who has the best lounge/on-board food for me

Pretty underwhelmed by the snacks we received (flexis both ways) - MEL-OOL was two very small thin crackers and a small slab of cheese, also a single chocolate drop. OOL-MEL was Mainland cheese and crackers. Only offered the same complimentary tea/coffee/juice as everyone else.

Went Mel to Syd last Friday 7 30 PM departure on flexi (seat 3A again):D

Also miserable thin biscuit mentioned above. I honestly thought, 'Why bother'?

At least flexi meal was something substantial even if a bit average at times.

Also asked if it was still possible for a glass of wine please and was very abruptly told that it would be $8.

My thoughts are perhaps they should give something decent to everybody on every flight or go back to pay for everything for everyone, then at least one would know what to expect.
There is so much incosistensy at the moment

I never buy Flexis and always eat in the Lounge as Im usually asleep by takeoff but does this mean everyone in Y gets the same 'refreshment' and that Flexis no longer get a proper meal? That is yet another reason not to buy a Flexi. I understand VA want to get their yields up but when Flexis are at least twice the price of Savers it doesn't make any sense to me to waste the extra money!

This seems to be the case and Yes I agree flexi's are a waste of money, but generally only book the flight on the day of travel or the night before and that is the only fare available

That was our experience - Flexi passengers were given the (as Cessna 180 so aptly put it) "why bother" snack, other passengers purchased from the menu, and everyone was offered the same refreshment regardless of fare. And of course on the coast-to-coast flights, everyone receives a meal now regardless - we wouldn't normally buy flexis, but we needed the extra SCs to take full advantage of the double SC offer, which will now push me to Platinum. I'm now wondering whether the 4 complimentary upgrades will end up going to waste as there are less and less reasons these days to buy flexis, especially given the rising costs of flexis in and out of PER.
