Snow, Onsen and Crab!

Yes!
Also because I've looking at London hotels, everything Japanese feels very reasonable now 🤣
I've just been looking at London hotels too and horrified and very annoyed that my friend had to give up his flat in London. He'll be back in a few weeks but I need it sooner than that

I've decided Premier Inn is my new best friend 🤪

I had the same problem after NYC. My friend's sister (who lives in NYC) comes back home now and doesn't flinch at 300-500AUD a night hotel, they're "good value".

It's all about what you are used to isn't it.
If you say A$300 per night I convert that into 30K Yen in my head and went "oh I could book a ryokan with this money and that includes a nice room, onsen, dinner and breakfast!"

日本三景 Three Views of Japan

The Japanese seem to be obsessed with the number three for some reason! (there are also 3 best night views, 3 best onsens, etc....yeah you get the idea)
Anyways these 3 are supposed to be the (best? most famous?) scenic spots in the country.
I've already been to Miyajima in Hiroshima, and Matsushima Bay in Miyagi.
I like Miyajima but holy cow wtf is Matsushima and why is it a best view?? 🤢

So, I'm more than a bit skeptical about Amanohashidate...I mean, it's a sandbar....
But since I'm going to that region anyway, might as well pay a visit. Luckily the local private rail company has some interesting special trains 😍
I had the schedule all worked out and trains booked only to discover yesterday the cable car up a hill to see the sandbar is not running the whole of Feb! Chair lift is a no for me. So I'll need to go to the other end of the bay....problem is I don't have that one extra hour to do it!
Hmmm, might have to give up on one of the trains....not happy!

I like CI a lot, but their IT is....something else.....
I didn't even know you can pre-select meals until last time they sent me an email.
But alas, no email this time! Luckily I know now...

Slightly concerned about the weather (snowfall) in Gifu/Nagano.....
I've been glued to Tenki.jp for a week now 🤣

Well yes, this bit is not good!

北陸・岐阜県山間部は17日頃から、長野県北部・群馬県北部は18日頃から、降雪量が多くなる可能性があり、「10年に1度の大雪」の可能性が高まっています。山沿いを中心に、また積雪がグンと増える可能性があります。

Fingers crossed!
