I flew AKL-SYD on LATAM, whilst the seat and IFE were good.. the crew essentially disappeared after the meal service.
However, well worth the short trip IMO.

Yeah but they are getting paid in Peso's

Airlines do reflect their national culture.

Indeed. Something similiar happened on the likes of UL when I travelled. Algood by me; makes us appreciate the more consistently brilliant airlines better :)

I flew SCL - LIM on LA in A321 last night - travelling in Y which had exactly the same seats as J. If I had paid for business I would have been pissed. I'm 6'1 and the seats are too small - they feel like Easyjet. I wish Oneworld would have some standards for seat pitch. I flew LA 787 MAD-SCL 10 days ago and while 787 is a nice aircraft the seats were too small and very uncomfortable for the 13.5hrs.
The staff were nice and while I speak a little Spanish, they didnt mind speaking English and didnt disappear.
Luckily the rest of my long haul flights are in J now so I dont have to be cramped in LA Y.

That's because LA does not have J class on their A32x series birds, so you would not have been able to buy a Business fare. It's PE at best - or a few seats around the over-wing exit rows may be called 'Space +'.

You need to go on the B787 on that route to get J.
