I'm curious what AFF'ers are up to this Christmas and New Year. Perhaps I'll steal some ideas for use in later years if they are good !

For me, It's BA to Istanbul on the 24th, 4 days there, then flying TK (Turkish Airlines) to Greece. 4 days there and flying BA back to London late on the 1st.

Don't have any plans for what I'm doing on either Christmas or New Years yet, but will formulate something in the next week or so.

So what are you up to ?

Spending Christmas day at home enjoying our Grandson's first christmas and then heading off to Vegas on the 27/12 for a week, NYE on the strip should be fun. Then on to San Diego for 6 nights.
Wishing everyone a very happy and safe christmas!:D

The Batesy's, plus three other extended family members will be spending Christmas in the Umalas just north of Seminyak in Bali.
Bring on the Bintangs....

Christmas with the folks - as you do.
NYE - taking some friends on board my private railcar from Canberra Sydney to see some fireworks then back in the wee hours.
Go here to see what the small but growing private car owners get up to.
Privateers Carriage Preservation Movement

After that, off to SFO, hire a car had head to Colorado, I believe Vail is nice at this time of year

I'm not being a very good AFF'er and staying put at home. My holiday nuked all my travel $$ hehe :) I suspect I'll sit around at home and have a few quiet ones.

Heading down to Wonthaggi to spend Christmas Day with the other half's family. And participating in the Boxing Day sales of course... thinking of heading out to Chaddy this year to see the 'new' Chadstone, will try to take it easy though as the AMEX is still protesting after my antics in Europe the past 2 weeks. :p

We're hosting some overseas visitors over New Year's. Will probably treat them to their first Aussie barbie, and watch the fireworks.

Well this will be the first family christmas at our place for some years. All mrsdrron's family are coming plus our son and 2 grandkids. Will be the full show with turkey, ham and pork.Start off with the Croser, some Marlborough sav blanc.for the winos there will be a selection of Tahbilk Marsannes from the 90s,a couple of petaluma chardys(96 and 2002).the reds will include 1990 Tahbilk shiraz and 92 Petaluma cab sav. Then Hardy's 1954 Show Port to put everyone off to sleep.I have decided it is high time the cellar started to diminish in volume.
Two years ago it was a white christmas in the Adirondacks with extended family and last year with our surrogate family-former partner-he is Malaysian, she English so their 4 kids had no grandparents in Australia so their eldest daughter asked us to be their grandparents. It has been an amazing relationship-they were with us in the Adirondacks.
NYE will be as usual-try to go to bed early and hope no noisy partys around us.never have been one to party on NYE.
So to all you wonderful AFFers have a great christmas and may you god go with you.:)

Christmas Day and Boxing Day will be spent at various family friends places on the Gold Coast no doubt, as we always seem to do. Don’t usually have the roast turkey in favour of fresh seafood. Following drron’s lead, we’ll probably have a few bottles of Grange.

Dislike NYE with a passion, every year I’m alone and it’s just a sad reminder that I’ve still yet to accomplish anything :p Plus we always end up on the Gold Coast beach to watch the fireworks that are really bad, especially when compared to what I’ve seen in Asia.

Trying not to think about it! :-|

Christmas Day in Manila and Boxing Day off to Hong Kong.
Then Dec 27 on QF 29 to London. Dec 30 Eurostar to Paris.
NYE at Arc de Triomphe/Champs Elysees....should be fun.
Jan 2 Eurostar back to London and Jan 4 on QF 30 back to HKG and CX to MNL.

Mr and Mrs Edison will be doing 2 trips over Xmas and New Year period.
We will first head from Sydney to French Polynesia via Wellington NZ during Xmas and New Year on NZ J (SQ *A J redemption ). Flying to Wellington on Xmas day and spend one and a half days there, then fly the last flight to Auckland and stay overnight at airport hotel before heading to Tahiti on 27th Dec. We will spend 1 week at OWB at Hilton Moorea Resort and our activities include snokelling, sleeping, lazing around, seeing lovely Tahitian people, visiting the fishes sharks, sting rays etc. Finger crossed for good weather though. We will leave Tahiti on 2nd Jan and arrive in Sydney on 4th Jan at 08:30.

After this, we will drive home (1 day Hertz car hire), and swap luggage, and then go back to airport to catch VS on PE to Hong Kong leaving on the same day at 15:40. We will be in Hong Kong for 2 days visiting relatives, then go to Guangzhou to visit more relatives. Mr Edison will then come back to Sydney on SQ J redemption on 11th Jan, and will be in Singapore for 7 hours, and will try SKL SIN, Spacebed and new regional J all for the first time. Mrs Edison will stay there until late January where she will also come back on SQ J redemption.

So yes, it is really two trips, but may be only one, as Sydney was a transit point between the trips! Will fly total of 8 segments (6 J, 1 PE, 1 Y). I think I really need a rest after this.

Packing my bags right now to depart Tuesday. CX to HKG for two days, then AY to HEL then on to CDG. Xmas in Rennes and NYE in Bordeaux. J class all the way. Life is sooooo good. :)

Christmas day with the in-laws (they live in CBR, about 10 minutes up the road from my place) and then sitting around at home, going around to a mates place (5 minutes up the road) for NYE.

Sadley not going anywhere this year (most other years I head down to Batemans Bay for the week), that said with Mrs Harvyk is due to give birth to twin boys in early Janurary I can see why she wants to stay at home this year... :)

Just came back from a great six week trip in Europe etc. so I am pretty flat broke.

Spending Christmas with the family - we're doing the whole get-together at our place on Christmas Eve - I imagine I'll have to help Mum tonight skewer meat into satays for tomorrow's BBQ. Then a lazy Christmas day - or perhaps Dad will encourage us to go to Christmas mass.

Got a call from a friend in high school who I haven't seen in a while. He's invited me and a few other high school friends (coming from both locally and from interstate) for a get-together on 27/12. Should be really good to see them again.

NYE again at home. At least someone in our extended family will surely be throwing a party of sorts, but we usually still go home in time for the countdown to the new year. I know this year is the last year of the current decade (which was the first decade of the new century), but I don't see myself doing anything big. We'll probably do what we normally do every new year, which is turn on all the lights in our home. Oh, and we will be forced to wear new clothes to welcome the new year.

Probably the highlight (apart from a break from university between 24/12 and 03/12 inclusive) is that my sister will down from ROK until the new year. I haven't seen her for about three months.

Yes, I am boring - no flying. One year I would like to spend Christmas and New Year somewhere other than in BNE. This year isn't going to be it.

Quick trip to MEL for family stuff tomorrow, back next week.

NYE at home in boring CBR.

Then 16 Jan off on my big Circle Asia trip. TR will be posted. :)

Xmas day with family then spending the next 6 days in brisbane CBD pretending to be a tourist, thanks to the cheap rates on offer from most of the city hotels ( no bed making or cooking for 6 days)!
