So, what music are you listening to now?

Started the evening with Michael Bublé & Xmas Carols.

Probably a bit too soon.

Moved on to Van Morrison & Tupelo Honey. Remembering the amazing weed we used to get in Darwin :D:)

We were sitting in the piazza having a drink and these guys were busking and hubby bought their CD, so he's listening to it as I pack

Have been working my way through a book titled 1001 songs you must hear before you die (a 2011 print version). Have appreciated the earlier music, though I'm not too sure on their choices for the 2000's era, thus have become stuck about 90% of the way through.

One of my take-aways so far is that if we thought that it was only modern music that sung about 'dangerous' lifestyles, we have obviously forgotten songs from the 30s that talk about cocaine!

Has Paul McDermott one of the most underrated voices out there? I think so!

Having a beer in Helsinki listening to "Mountain", and that brings back some memories!

Getting back into the guitar, and finding some modern day blues players.

Notably Kirk Fletcher, and Christone "Kingfish" Ingham. 20 years old and just a beast of a player.

In 1968 , I attended the second Port Philip FoIlk Festival and shortly afterwards became the proud owner of a shiny new Maton FG100.
Next year we all trooped to Sydney and the scene there was amazing for this green country boy.
I remember being absolutely spellbound by Mike MClelland and what seemd unworldly picking.
I was even more taken with the picking on the twelve string and shortly after returning to Melbourne the FG100 was traded on a very beautiful FG 150.
I was broke as always , but it had been discounted from a repaired hair split in the top ( done by Maton).
While I loved the 12 string it was beyond me to master it quickly and Maton reset the guitar as a 6 string .
With the larger body and the right strings, it had a quite remarkable tone with lots of timbre
It still sleeps in it's corner, just one memento of an interesting life… :)

Ginger Baker died a couple of days ago aged 80, another one that it is surprising he managed to live this long.

Cream, Sunshine of Your Love.

So Eric is the only one still alive from that first "super group".

We were only catching up on Ginger this morning. We hear about some of these old musicians passing away and comment:

“WOW. We didn’t even know they were still around”!
