Two years ago the QF status changes on non QF oneworld flights made it near impossible for a non-Oz based flyer like me to maintain WP. So I did the AA challenge and quickly made WP equivalent on AA. Shifting all my miles collection to AA. QF gave me a soft landing WP putting me WP on both AA and QF. Coming up to re-qualification time it is looking like I am going to miss retaining WP AA. Will fall short as my travels have all moved to mid-short haul around asia. I was prepping myself for a 2016 of LTG and AA (regular) platinum. Then today....a letter arrived in the mail from Qantas FF. Oddly it was black in colour. I opened it with a colleague in the room. I looked up with the from the letter big smile. "What?" she says "Did you win the lottery?". "Yes...I did" I replied showing off second year in a row of soft WP landing. Thanks QF.

I'd call it two successive comps rather than a soft landing, then. The first perhaps under the three-year average "rule"?
