To fly it? Young me certainly would have been. As for the reporter, I don't think he expected quite that low. My guess is that they'd done the shot a couple of times to get the timing, and the aircraft was lowest on that run.

Flying very low isn't necessarily as dangerous as you might imagine, though it is something you need to practice, and work down to.
