Hi AFF members,

i am after help / advice, I will be looking to buy 10 tickets for my sports team for us to head over to Orlando in October.

Being I am a Qantas club member I will be looking to book the flights with Qantas, so I am wondering firstly how fare out from the date of departure should I be looking for the best prices on flights.

Secondly, is there a way to purchase or apply for extra passes to the Qantas lounge for my other team members for us to relax before we head off to take on the USA? I have applied to Qantas for a form of sponsorship for discounts of Qantas club passes but they claimed due to restrictions and budget cuts they were unable to help.

Any help would be much appreciated as organising 10 peoples flights can be fun to say the least....

Thankyou all in advance for your help.

Organising flights for such a group is probably best done via Qantas group sales or a travel agent
Qantas Flights | Make a group booking with Qantas
With Qantas group purchases, there is a separate Qantas group checkin area.

Qantas lounge entry requires an individual membership for 1 year. There are no single entry passes for sale.
I was going to suggest the American Airlines 30 day lounge membership but this product is to be discontinued.

I was about to say you might have missed the sweet spot re USA fares but current "The USA Deal" ends 30 June 2016. Better get in quick. It will be surprising that further specials to that part of the world for November will emerge after that.

I think it is important to get everyone and all flights to be on the same booking. This is not a situation where you buy separate tickets. One group, one booking.

Here is the fare levels for SYD-LAX:

As you can see the straight line after January 2017 means that the next lot of specials will be applied to periods after January 2017, but have not been released yet which is why the line is straight.

And a big hint for the organiser: get the money upfront before you purchase the tickets. Also let them know of the conditions of the ticket ahead of time, in writing, e.g. no refunds name changes etc. That way whatever happens you're not on the hook.

Also, insist that everybody purchase and prove to you that they have travel insurance before they check in.

Good luck.
