I managed to book saver awards for MEL-LHR in R on both legs and CDG-SYD in R on both legs in Aug/Sept. Wasn't easy trying to find good dates though. There was probably only 2-3 of Double suites flights in Aug/Sept. Managed to find an acceptable interval between flights to make a holiday out of it. There were quite a few flights in F though available in saver though.

The drawback is the MEL-LHR is a red eye flight, on both legs, with 16hr stop over and SIN-SYD is red eye with 16hr or so stop over in SIN again.

Hate the long stopovers in Singapore then a short overnight flight home. Thats why I am tending to use Emirates into Dubai these days.

ADL right? SQ not ideal for Europe-ADL due to the single daily short overnight. Much better suited for MEL, SYD, BNE, PER which all have day flight from SIN connecting from all of SQ's EU destinations. IIRC, SQ did at one point have some daytime SIN-ADL flights (supporting a 10-11 flights a week frequency), but these were killed off when EK entered the ADL market.

Yes. The day flights are wonderful. Alas no more for ADL.

I normally stay up late, so would be easier for me to adjust my body clock to suit suites flight, but the missus sleeps early, so she probably won't be able to, and might sleep through quite a bit of it.

Think we'll head into Singapore city a bit. Haven't been there in ages. What does everyone do on long stop overs in SIN?

We walk across to the Crowne Plaza hotel room, make sure the air conditioning is running well in our room then run a deep bath to relax. Outside the humidity can be awful but we are in our own cocoon.
Next morning we have breakfast in TPR and off we go to London or Los Angeles.

So ninja you basically have 2 full days to fill in in SIN - that is certainly no disaster - and you have TPR access for total duration both stopovers at your discretion. As cove mentioned - Crowne Plaza is right there and is a possibility - you could also book Ambassador Transit Hotel in T3 for a 6 hr block of sleep on arrival after shower and brekky in TPR - or sleep first as the rooms have showers in them and TPR brekky after that.

dajop and others will be best for suggestions for activities in SIN - exiting to landside will give you re-entry back through SQ's dedicated F check in area - this is worth experiencing alone. Many options in SIN - but one I thoroughly recommend you do not miss a couple hours wandering through Gardens By The Bay behind Marina Bay Sands - SPECTACULAR - some images here - others will have plenty suggestions - then when you return to Changi you can shower again in TPR before dinner drinking PH Rare and eating infinity's favourite lobster.

I am sure the both of you will make these memorable adventures - please post some pics of your days.

Yeah, pretty much 2 full days of stopover in SIN. It isn't a disaster considering TPR access and what appears to be great facilities in Changi. However, very annoying timing for flights.

Oh wow! Those gardens look awesome. Will definitely visit it.

Would probably end up using Transit hotel for a quick nap sometime during the transit rather than Crowne plaza due to timing of the flights.

I read a while back of a really good hawkers market you visit or maybe it was someone else? Do you remember which one that is?

Ahh, the lobster and PH Rare in TPR for dinner, sounds like a plan. Might have to use PH Rare as a sleeping aid and rest up in the lounge pre-flight. Any special rooms to have a quiet nap in TPR?

Will def post some pics, although the missus tells me I take really **** photos :D

Make sure you pre-book ST hotel rooms - I have found their service very good - no nap rooms in TPR - there are 2 'Telephone' rooms down far end near computer bench - I have slept in those for couple hours - as I said dajop and a few others will chime in on info on hawkers market - really not my cup of tea.

They appear to be seasonal - the Flight Schedule option in the SQ App has the daytime SQ277 SIN-ADL flights operating 3 days / week throughout January 2016, then reverting back to the one (night-time) SQ279 flight from 1st Feb. Hopefully the daytime flights will re-appear later in the year???

+1 to Gardens by the Bay. Incredible piece of construction and some nice views of the waterfront. Had the set lunch at Pollen the other day (restaurant inside the Flower Dome) and that was brilliant. Need to book in advance, but highly recommended.

For a hawker centre, try Lau Pa Sat in the city (aka Telok Ayer Market) for some good variety. Little India is great too, where you'll find Esquina – a fantastic Spanish restaurant – among other things.

There are so many other things to explore in Singapore, but all depends on your interests. I have more tips if books/design/coffee/food/furniture interest you (BooksActually on Yong Siak St is amazing).

Last week I ventured to Newton Hawker Centre for some good ole Chiili Crab during my 6-7 hrs layover.

There are some 20 stalls selling seafoods there so the competition is fierce.

Locals told me which stall to go to (#82) so it was all finger licking good.

Sugar cane drinks in hot weather was nice too.

Was there on Saturday night! Another great hawker centre, with mainly seafood vendors.

Interesting to note no.82 – will try that next time I'm there!

Yes, this advice is gold. Was gonna ask for chilli crab advice later, but I guess I don't have to now. Will need to save this post

Are there all the usual Hawker centre food as well? I.E. Chicken rice?

IIRC there is one stall selling Hainan chicken.

Seafood galore, however
