Also cruiser mentioned it's best to always book one way savers? Why is this?

Ok thanks. So when I call up to do it as I can't do mixed class bookings online will they question me? Or they don't really care :)

nup - known issue with their booking engine.

agree on booking one ways - UNLESS - you are certain on your dates, and you want to do a stopover - as it's free on a return saver (one stopover), but US$100 on a one way.

Ok thanks. When you say it's more flexible on a one way to change etc in what way? Is it cheaper to change in terms of fees or....

Interesting on the US$100 stopover for a one way ticket. Booked HKG-SIN-MEL in F and a few months later, add a stopover in SIN for 2 nights. I was told that there was a tax difference of $180 but no mention of the stopover fees. Just wondering if that $180 inclusive of the stopover? $180 additional tax for a flight 2 days later seem a lot, considering I've paid tax for the HKG-SIN-MEL flight.

Ok thx. Is it worth trying the new F on 77W? And is the old F in 77W good too?

Hi k3nnis,

The one thing that SQ drives me crazy with is multi class bookings. I have flown SYD to BKK via SIN on a few occasions with F for SYD to SIN and then J SIN to BKK (as there is on F on the BKK sector). Everytime, it takes me 30 minutes on the phone with SQ to book but once I step on board and there is a glass of Krug or Dom available, all is forgiven......

My recent flight SYD to SIN was SQ242, which was an older B777. There was only two of us in F. The product was showing its age, still very comfortable.

The service on SQ is always fantastic. It does step up to another level when the crew have a small number of paxs to look after. You can also have two seats, one for sleeping and one for eating.

IMO, it is more likely to have a "emptier" F cabin on the old flights assigned the older setup as PAXs paying with $$$$$ certainly want the latest and greatest cabins.

One of my best flights was with EK from SYD to BKK. It was a 777, so not as good as their A380 product but I was the only PAX in F. I had three FA's, two toilets, it was like being in a private jet.

Then earlier this week, only 2 PAX with SQ in F flying SYD to SIN........

So I do see a benefit or two flying the occasional sector on flights assigned the "old" F.....

Thanks r36. Was sq242 a 77W or the 777-300? Or are they pretty much the same?

Hi K3nnis,

On my booking confirmation / itinerary from SQ, M flight last week said Boeing 777-300 as the air craft type.
My next flight with SQ (booked for a few months time) states Boeing 777-300 refitted.
Both are the same flight (SQ242), so I guess that is how you can see if it is the old or the new product.

Thanks R36. What happens if SYD-SIN A380 flight arrives late in SIN and I miss my 1hr 5mins connection to KUL via SQ?

Assuming flying F/R class using points.

Do they compensate me in anyway? Hotel somewhere?

When I took my trip recently, a minor technical error delayed my departure and my layover was only an hour or so. I was told that if the delay was extensive or caused a missed connection, as F/R passengers, they would rebook you on next available flight with them or with a partner airline, same class, as a priority above the other classes.

I don't think they'd refund the points. As for hotels, it depends on the length of the delay.

Ok thanks. Will the luggage be put on the partner airline automatically?

Yes.

All F/R checked luggage is tagged with the relevant priority tag and there are so few F/R seats, it should be easy to locate. Bags will be re-routed.

I have missed several connection in SIN ret from PEK and PVG traveling R/F - always put up in hotel and put on next available flt. I was desperate to get home one time with full F cabin so I sat in J.

Yes 5* - if CP Changi available and you miss connection SIN that is where they will stick you - if unavailable another 5* hotel downtown - again what is available.

We had 380 blow engine at takeoff NRT last Sept and had to overnight NRT at Hilton there - whatever is available.
