Singapore Airlines metal changes - flights out of Syd

From our TA

Singapore Airlines has made some changes to its flight schedule on flights out of Sydney for September onwards.
The two aircraft that will be swapped will be:
Flight SQ212 from Sydney (departing at 0810 and arriving in Singapore at 1430 local time) will lose the A380, to be replaced by a Boeing 777-300.
Flight SQ232 from Sydney (departing at 1120 and arriving in Singapore at 1745 local time) will gain the A380 in exchange for the 777-300 that is now departing on the earlier flight.
The changes will come into effect as of 7 September and will continuing through into 2012.
Business class passengers in particular may want to double check their flights as this may mean a swap from the extra-wide fully flat beds on the A380 to the older reclining seat on the 777-300 aircraft.

A more civilised time for the A380 over the early morning start, comfy bed vs. recliner will have to check the bookings:idea:

This is the retrofitted 773: the new regional J seat is in fact 3 years newer than the A380 J seat, which first debuted on the 777ER.

Very happy with the A380 changes to SYD departures - I've got an A380 now in J on SQ232 for a Saver Redemption:cool:

Agree Cove, the 777 is a marvelous aircraft, especially if it is configured to latest J class which I doubt out of Perth. Considered regional I would say PER SIN .....??
Would you still agree the 777 is a marvelous aircraft if sitting down the back? Let's just say that the 777 in 3-3-3 is not that comfortable and I would hate to think what the 777 in 3-4-3 is like.

I got excited with a recent redemption out of Sydney that included 212 for early next year - A380 in a suite - until I checked SIA timetable.
And I have a BMI award SYD-SIN early next year in SQ business class that was booked on the 777 and a day or so later was switched to the A380! ;)

Very disappointing SQ, and without the A380 you have no lost all my paid J travel to Europe to Emirates as they are launching the A380 into MEL in around Feb of next year.

The writing was on the wall when they re-timed the MEL departure which basically made a 10 hour stopover in SIN for most of the onwards Europe flights.

EK will do well out of this!

JohnK, fair point about the Y section of a T7, but it hasn't fazed me in the past. I know other's don't like the EK set out of 3-4-3 but it works for families.

With what the T7 can do, I do think QF would be in a better position then what they are relying on their current fleet. The 330's could not help as much as the 777 did when SQ had to ground the 380's, and I think QF passengers who found themselves on the 767's suffered the most.
