Shame that these fares aren't eligible for the free upgrade, since they don't accrue miles.

Interesting I did not receive an email. Those airfares look good but it is a shame no frequent flyer miles. I would have been tempted to head off to Thailand before my RTW....

Yes the fares are live now :)

and they just got our business worth about $1500....

Yep, I'm just about to book 2x PER-LHR for the 'rentals! It's a shame I've already booked my PER-FRA//LHR-PER for November, I could have saved $500 by not going on Qantas. Although I will have slightly more comfortable seating on QF due to preallocated bulkheads, and seats that have no seat in front of them..... but is it worth $500?

I can't seem to get the fares to come up when booking a stopover in SIN, even though the fare rules say that it's allowed:

FOR DEFAULT CONDITIONS 01 STOPOVER PERMITTED INBOUND. -1 PERMITTED INBOUND IN SIN FREE OF CHARGE AND 01 STOPOVER PERMITTED OUTBOUND. -1 PERMITTED OUTBOUND IN SIN FREE OF CHARGE

Though if your QF flight is point earning your $500 will be offset by what the QF points are worth to you....so that may ease your pain.

'tis only 20k points, so definitely not worth $500

Still for a more comfortable flight.. overall including points/seating it's close to being worth it.

Further to my previous post, booking using the multi tool and including a stopover (or two) works fine for the sale fare now.

That being said, I've gone ahead and booked a great Qantas fare instead. MEL-HKG-LHR-SIN-MEL for $1500 all in. That way I get points too.

I'm in a dilemma:rolleyes:

I currently have a return award Y flight Syd-Sin-Bcn in November, which cost me 80750 KrisFlyer pts (thanks AMEX) and $655 taxes / surcharges. I can book the same flight all up now for $1354 + $25 credit card surcharge. It will cost me only 5000 pts, I think, (can anyone confirm?) to cancel my award flight and I will get the remainder of my points + surcharges refunded.

The problem with the sale flight is that it is non refundable, and non changeable (with the minor annoyance that you don't get pts, but i can live with that!) What should I do? November is such a long way off to lock myself into a flight that I can't change / cancel....on the other hand 80000+ pts to save just over $600 worth of flight is such a poor use of points!!

Help....

If you cancel offline it's 5,000pts or 50USD cash. If you can cancel online it is 3,000 pts or 30 USD cash (unless if you have status in which case it's half of the respective rates). And surcharges refunded also.

Obviously hasn't happened yet, note that on FT there is talk of SQ withdrawing from BCN.

Thanks for that...I'm aware of that thread but I gather it's the MXP-BCN sector that's under threat, and I assume that SQ would sort something out if it's cancelled eg LH Alitalia for the MXP-BCN leg.

It really is a huge risk locking (including fixed dates) in a flight so early on in the piece but I suppose travel insurance might help for illness reasons but not for any other...

I was handed a SQ voucher today re the current sale.

PER-JNB around 1335 retun (inc +++) so looks ok.

I can scan it up tomorrow if anyone wants..

The SQ sale is mentioned on another thread, note also that QF seems to be "silently matching" :)

Although, going by my Inbox, some agents are pushing the Qantas fares. Maybe Qantas didn't have time yesterday to get the fares organised, promotional material ready and signed off etc etc.

Pretty happy with this deal. Fare that I was paying for $8k is now $6.5k.

I guess this is as good as it will get.

I think this is one of the first international airfares where the child discount has been scrapped entirely. Combine that with the loss of points and hefty surcharges, no changes and it's looking like they're taking on some of Tiger's characteristics... :(

Like charging for exit rows as well.... and you should have seen some of the SQ meals i have been served recently in whY, un-eatable... and it was not just me who said that...
I live in SIN and they are not my first choice for sure, i will choose other airlines in preference unless SQ is the only one flying direct.

I've been trying to get two other colleagues onto these fares on the same flights. Certainly the lower cost fares are not as easy to find. On some days there is almost no availability.

I guess they are holding back seats to make it look harder.
