My goodness that is cheap.

Considering fuel surcharges are ~$450 of that airfare the value on award tickets is poor.

PER-HKG is more expensive than ex-East Coast?

Wow that is cheap....

It's more exp in Perth because only CX flies direct .

For this purpose, award tickets are really poor. But I have found goodvalue, even in SQ in economy, despite surcharges. Mainly to do with waitlists coming available of fairly full flights where you have to pay top dollar.

Crazy cheap. How do SQ make money off those fares?
As sprucegoose mentioned an airline seat is perishable.

Someone said they went to Singapore recently on Qantas and it was 40% full one-way and 50% full the other way. How much did Qantas make from the seats that were not sold?

The next few years are going to be real interesting and airfares could get lower.

Wow. That's the cheapest I have ever seen to HKG on a proper carrier - what are CX's direct lowest ever sale fares? $850?

From SYD and MEL you could get A380 all the way. Given their 4 flights per day, if you could get a SIN stopover you could probably do all day flights. That would be a very comfortable way to travel - there's absolutely nothing wrong with SQ - especially if you can get the upper Y cabin on the A380!

If this earnt VA SCs I would book it in a heartbeat.

I find CX is consistently the most expensive carrier to HKG - QF is always cheaper.

Try a Y seat CNS/HKG/CNS about $1.5K and J around $7K, and 4 days week its just a direct 7 hour flight!.

If going QF have to go via BNE or SYD takes a longer and have to get up at sparrow fart.

Yep how come CX makes it work and not QF??

Has QF been too occupied with the LCC market?

CX is more expensive both exHKG and exAust. Evidently they have convinced people to pay a premium for their service - QF needs to ponder that for a moment.

Amen to that..consistency of product and schedule pay handsome dividends for CX. They have the business market sewn up.

Was PER-HKG really that unsuccessful? If it was, maybe it was because it was only 3x or 4x weekly.

QF chop and changed the timings for the route consistently, favouring the 4:50 arrival time ( it had been several different times, same as the outbound). I guess the second SIN service had the same issues hence it was dropped.

We had a QF pilot make mention to us the flight numbers of the early arrivals into PER were named after the number of pax on each flight.

i agree good product differentiation.

they are also on top of SQ it would appear but you guys tha live in the region would have a better idea. When I was there it was always SQ that dominated the premium airways.

As said out of OZ CX are expensive, try a ticket ex HKG about half the price. Have done these sectors many times, CX flights go near full, Qantas years ago gave up CNS/HKG and CX have been laughing ever since. Last trip in Y did CNS/SYD/HKG return with 1 night SYD) for a grand, same dates on CX was around $1600.

SQ sale to HKG is a beauty just wish we had direct flights to SIN, lots of talk about it but no luck as yet. If the massive B$ AQUIS resort gets the final nod early next year, can bet the bottom dollar they'll all be clambering to fly direct to CNS from ASIA.
