SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I asked a similar question in this thread prior to my flight. I called into TPR for a shower and breakfast a few weeks ago following a DEL - SIN red eye - no issues and personally found the arrival access extremely easy and worth it’s weigh in gold.

I’ll be going landslide, but how did you get from arrivals to the TPR? Perhaps that’s answered a couple of weeks ago too.

Arrivals and departures aren’t separated in SIN. On arrival you have free access to the terminal. Head straight from your aircraft to TPR.

When you’ve finished, head out to claim your baggage. It will be at the left baggage area right by the reclaim belts. The bags are secured and you’ll need to show ID to collect them.

Make sure you exit via the same terminal you arrived in... so if you land T2 you must go back to T2 to exit. Your bags will be at the terminal your flight arrived. Of course if you arrive T3, the TPR is also T3, so you just exit there.

What you can’t do is arrive, claim your bags, store them, then go to the lounge, shower and eat, and re-enter singapore to go to your hotel. You are only permitted to enter the departures area for the purpose of catching a flight (ie, not just to use the lounge).

Can I enter the TPR on arrival into SIN after a redeye for a shower and breakfast etc?
If yes, what happens with checked luggage - can it be collected and taken in, or picked up from unclaimed luggage on leaving etc?

You can.

Head straight to the lounge from the plane. After you have finished, head through immigration and to the left luggage section by the bag reclaim belts. Make sure you use immmigration at the terminal you arrive at... this is where you baggage will be (if for example you arrive at T2 and go to the lounge at T3, you’ll need to go back to T2 for immigration and your bags).

I will note it had a different name then “left luggage” - maybe unclaimed luggage...? Can only remember it was different then “left luggage” that I asked ground staff for.

steady... i was probably editing my post while you were replying... just note the warning about not entering, storing bags, and then going back in. The left baggage service is secure, nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the info, is this also true if I arrive at 21:00 and depart the next day at 9:00? I have a 12 hour transit at SIN (I wanted two a380 suites experiences) and was lead to believe that I can only access the lounge for departure and not for arrivals

SQ first class passengers can use TPR on arrival (an unpublished benefit) and of course, before departure. As your flights are only 12 hours apart and you'd likely have both boarding passes anyway it won't make a difference, you could enter under either boarding pass as a transit passenger. (If you don't have your onward pass then use the arrival pass for entry.) There are no restrictions to this or the number of times you can enter/leave the lounge.

If bags not checked through then the paid luggage storage place is:
  • If facing the TPR entrance - on the main shopping concourse to your right and behind you.
  • If looking out from the TPR entrance - " to your left and in front of you
not more than a couple of minutes walk away.

It can take up to 20-25 minutes at times to get in to drop off your bags due to queue and similarly to retrieve your bags. When we used it last year to stow our carry-ons during epic 14 hr (I think it was) TPR visit(s) - the drop-off was quick (no q) but pick-up was nearly 25 minutes.

If so desire, and your times fit, then you can book into a free tour to see Singapore which allows you to leave the terminal (and your bags) do the whistlestop tour 2-3hrs door to door and head back to the TPR for a shower etc.

Booking desk is in the opposite direction to the luggage storage and about a 5 minute walk on the same side and in between the transition between gates (shops finish and a long corridor of gates begins right after the almost like a coffee cart booking place.

Unfortunately the last tour seems to leave at 7.30pm.

I didn't know there was a storage facility for hand luggage inside the terminal! I guess it serves for passengers wanting to go into the city for a short break during transit?

Thanks for the info, will most likely stay in the airport for the duration as we have a three day stopover on the return journey.
We will do some shopping (picking up the Changi dollars) and may also check ourselves in at the ambassador transit hotel. So popping into the lounge for something to eat was the plan.

No problem at all. Use TPR any time you want, as often as you want. Would definitely recommend booking a room at the transit hotel as soon as you can as they do sell out. Even if you decide not to use it the room is not expensive. 12 hours is a little long for lounge hopping.

Re the ‘12 transit’, after the arrival TPR visit, as per @OZDUCK’s excellent current TR, I’m considering taking the shuttle over to the Village Hotel Changi. I’ll try for an early checkin and early check out. I like OZDUCK’s idea of taking a bike and a walk.

It can be used for any kind of luggage.

Very old school strangely enough, single desk only one door for entry/exit so impatient people queuing make it hard to get out with your bags (even carry on bags).

They put an elastic attached card on your bag(s) and give you the other half as your claim ticket. DO NOT LOSE THEM - definitely the lady on when we were collecting had zero tolerance for anyone who mislaid them (not us luckily).

Charges per bag and per time periods x-y hours = z SGD
