SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Yes, permanent swap to 777 from late April (this month).
The 380 will move from serving FRA/JFK to MEL.

Fly EK :)
But I have all these SQ miles to use.
It’s the SIN - FRA -JFK that’s the 777.
Any other creative way to get to JFK, or thereabouts.

Leave early May MEL-SIN-MAN all in J and return
The MEL-SIN sectors downgraded to 777
Where have all our MEL origin 380’s gone😭
SQ 222 SYD - SIN is still an A380. Leave fr SYD?

All F options to US are on 777 AFAIK.
Either to LAX via NRT or to JFK via FRA.
Yep disappointing. SIN - FRA - JFK no longer A380.

When we lost our F saver awards when SQ downgraded the 777 to FRA and wouldn’t refund the difference between J and F awards we cancelled and bought a cheap J fare on E
K. 777 to DXB and 380 on to FRA totally underwhelming experience on EK. We would not use them again. Even the 380.

Sat beside a fellow who for 30 years and he told me that this would be his last as they are not the airline they used to be.

Hi all, just wanted to confirm a Krisflyer redemption query with our resident guru's.

I originally made a redemption booking in September 2022 for travel in September 2023. I now want to change the travel date to January 2024. When I rang Krisflyer, the agent said this was not possible as the Jan 2024 travel date is beyond the 1 year ticket validity (Booked in September 2022, so September 2023 is the latest travel date. Is this correct?

I unfortunately can't cancel the ticket and have the miles redeposited as the miles have also since expired.

Thanks all

Yes you can cancel and redeposit the miles but you will almost certainly have to argue with them. I have been able to do it twice as all miles in your account expiring before June 30th have been automatically extended for 6 months. It has taken 2-3 months to get the points back.
The benefits of arguing is that I ended up not having to pay a redeposit fee.

My understanding is that what the agent is saying is correct: you can’t extend a booking beyond its 1 year ticket validity. If you could, you circumvent the 3yr hard expiry of KF miles by continuously pushing a booking out. There were some temporary more generous covid rules that allowed for bookings to be extended beyond the validity (with a new 1 yr validity on the new booking), but these only applied to bookings made prior to 31 July 2022 — https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/...9-information-centre/complimentary-rebooking/

As @drron says, if you can’t use the ticket within its validity, your best bet is probably to cancel and argue with them to get the points back on the basis that their validity would have been extended if they had remained in your account rather than being used for the booking. There are examples above in this thread of people who have successfully done this, but be prepared for a battle…

Apologise if this isn’t the correct thread to ask this question. Heading to Europe, Middle East and India in June/July this year. Flying out of Sydney via Singapore airlines and wondering if the 777 is the ‘new’ first class or still the old product? Can’t seem to find much information online but Singapore airlines make mention of their new first product on the 777 and I’m not even sure what the difference is compared to the old product.

Thanks, that makes sense. I'll need to be creative with my existing booking !

The easy option to split the ticket was the live chat. That combined with a little bit of advice regarding the cancellations I want to make was all very simple and quick.
Further to this.

I finally got to send in the medical certificates yesterday to get my refund processed. This afternoon I got emails saying the dollar amounts are approved but they could take up to 6 weeks to process. I then logged in and all of the miles have already been returned to my account.
A few other airlines could learn from this IMHO.

only one bottle of Krug available today
That's unfortunate. SQ loads its champagne in Singapore, with the expectation that there should be enough stock for the return sector. Obviously it was well enjoyed on the inbound sector the previous day...

That's very disappointing for you, and no excuse really, so I'd suggest you write in to express your disappointment. They may do something nice for you, though no guarantees of course.

SQ212 full in F today.
We did 2 redemptions… does that mean the other 2 are paying pax?

I will be on SQ212 in June (only J). What time did you get up in the morning to fly? I don't like the timing and would have preferred SQ232 but beggars cannot be choosers in the context of redeeming awards. I won't have your issue of only 1 bottle of Krug, though.

there’s been conversation up-thread about reqd time to checkin for this first of the day SQ flight, but that was for 0900 daylight saving departure. Now it’s 8am but believe there’s still not much else leaving Syd at that time of day. But you can check that out. Back in Nov I was thru checkin and security in maybe 20 mins For this flt (J lounge was pretty bus) - But only had to commute from Rydges across the road!

There was plenty of Comtes ... but you always want what you can't have!

I was staying at the Rydges Sydney Airport so woke up at 545AM, checked in at 620AM which was a breeze. No issues through immigration or security check.
