SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I thought the singapore J lounge was pretty good. Excellent in food selection.
It was a bit crowded and food courtish though. Not really a place to relax/chill
Errr… pretty good but food courtish and not a place to relax! sums it up! They even have the buzzers for when your food… err shower… is ready! Not my idea of a good liu be where there’s good food and it’s calm and relaxing.

And try getting anywhere to sit at peak hour(s). You’re roaming around trying to find an empty space.

very true, i went in the morning and for a very short period, but the food stations were amazing,

Question about lounge access in SIN. I have a single ticket MEL-SIN-BWN. The first sector was in F and the second sector will be in J. I arrived in SIN at 3pm today and left the airport to go to a hotel. My flight tomorrow leaves at 9am. I aim to get to the airport at 6.30am. Will I get into the Private Room or will I be sent to the J lounge?

You definitely will have access to the private room. Show up with your F and J boarding pass. Staff told me that as long as departing flight is within 24hr, it’s TPR. My second flight was in J and about 20hrs later.

I have taken to using the KF Gold lounge at SIN T3; I find it much quieter and more pleasant. F & B offerings are not as fancy, but I can live with that.

I’m currently in the T2 F Lounge. My flight is T2 and I can’t be annoyed going to T3 for TPR. I was initially directed to the J Lounge and said I had arrived yesterday in F. They scanned yesterday’s boarding pass and sent me F-wards. The lounge is small and not particularly interesting. I had already stuffed myself with Priority Pass dosa so the food is of little interest.

I actually said that to a friend of mine a couple of days ago! They only have access to KF gold, but K said that’s likely no worse than the business lounge! As for the food, I didn’t find that interesting at all in the business lounge. So for me, the Gold lounge is prolly fine.

The T2 SK lounge is quieter and no wait for the showers. It’s our first port of call upon arrival. Food/ beverage options ok. How much can you eat/drink on any case. Later we head back to the T3 SK lounge for a particularly strong Singapore Sling coughtail; helps you sleep on the next flight. 😉

Please tell me more about this priority pass dosa

I guess you might be better off just waiting at the gate. Plenty of seating there if you get there early. And no buzzers in the food court.

‘slum it’ in the J lounge is about right! I would put it on par with the QFi melbourne lounge. only that QF is planning to refurbish theirs, and SQ has just done it! It’s a sad, disappointing lounge (SQ SIN)
I get your point, especially when it comes to the seating, crowding etc… but I’d rather eat freshly-made dim-sum from the SilverKris lounge than whatever’s in the buffet at the Qantas Melbourne lounge, any day of the week!

Q: are the amenity packs different based on aircraft?
Ive just completed the first leg and the amenty kit was lalique but only had 4 items in it
Other youtube videos have an amenity kit with about 12 items in it

That’s a bottle of Lalique perfume u got there.. there are drawers full of toothbrush sets, moisturiser, combs, brushes etc in the loo.. it’s partly a reduce-waste thing, but also giving rather more of something valuable (at least to those who like perfume).

The current perfume offering is not expensive and doesn’t last very long. The Neroli in particular only lasts 20 minutes.

Non-SQ interloper in the thread but is this really all they give you in an amenity kit? Room spray? Soap? Are you meant to take it home...?

My other half flew back on SQ335 in J a few days ago, and seems the crew almost forgot the pre-departure beverages...

Everyone had boarded, but the door was still open, and she was waiting and waiting.. Normally you have a glass of your preference before you have really sat down but not this time...

So she asked for a glass of the sparkling as it had been a long few days for her..

Got a quick apology and a glass in a few minutes, then the crew started to rush around and offer the rest of the cabin PDB's.

The lady in red then came over and apologised, but without really giving a reason why......and my other half is not one to push/demand anything....

Strange, but the drinks and service on the rest of the flight was perfect SQ standard!

Currently on SQ 21 EWR to SIN.

My god it is a long flight. But as @JessicaTam reminded me a few months ago, not the longest in the world. In J, could not imagine doing this in premium economy.

Have to say though catering out of EWR is horrible, both of my meals were barely touched. Others around me complained too.

We were in the SKL yesterday. but we have learn't to turn right on entering.A choice of comfortable seats, not crowded at all. They do have a small buffet there but very little Asian food. But no trouble going to the main buffet.
Chalk and cheese. The main area was a zoo. People circulating to find a seat.

We flew SQ631 and 245 in the last 2 days. The 2 best crews i have had on SQ. Delightful with great service but able to stop for a chat.
The FA that served me on 631 was also on 245. I was in a D seat whereas on 631 an H seat. We were second and third on and as I walked to the seat she came up saying wonderful to see you again Drron. I had got a survey re 631 and for the first time filled it out praising the cabin crew and ticked the box saying inform the crew. She told me she had seen my comments.

Is it your first time on SQ's ULR service?

It's the better part of a 24 hour day so would feel like it lasts forever.

We're on SQ24 (SIN-JFK) in April next year and am looking forward to it very eagerly, hopefully it's a good experience.

I can't imagine the hell-hole of Premium Economy on that flight, even Business can be a stretch. At least there's no Economy (What the hell are QF thinking with putting Y seats on their Project Sunrise flights?)...
Typical Qantarse.

Hope you enjoyed the remainder of the flight :)
