SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I have a question about The Private Room, is access granted on same day F flight departing a port other than Singapore? i.e. departing SIN on SQ12 (NRT/LAX service) but only travelling in F from NRT-LAX. NRT-LAX available in saver, but all 4 seats from SIN-NRT are sold, so the shorter sector would be in a lower class.

i have a baggage allowance question - i'm booked to fly from LHR to SIN in Y, than SIN to BNE in W. do i get the W allowance the entire way (the extra 10 Kg?)

Going to start accruing KrisFlyer miles more aggressively going forward. An embarrassing question :( : Do Elite Miles and KrisFlyer Miles have the same numerical accrual after a flight? That is, amount EMs = amount KFMs? They seem to have the same earn tables if you follow the links on the SQ web site. (I know the difference between them, just wondering about respective earn rates)

Has anyone had any luck with chasers for waitlists recently when you don't have any status?
Looking to get 2 x economy seats confirmed for early January (looks like there is about 30% availability for two of the flights I've waitlisted).

Just had about a dozen waitlists in J cancelled out of Europe (last one during the night). Now going to fly Y from MXP to PER one week earlier (next week) than I had hoped. Only confirmed seat I could get. Chasers on waitlists, in my limited experience, are useless i.e. not followed up.
Need to book earlier next time!
Good luck martindagun on getting yours.

Flying on star alliance airlines, yes.

Flying on SQ, if you hold no elite status, yes.

Flying SQ with elite status (silver, gold, PPS, Solitaire) in flexible economy, premium economy, business and first you also get a status bonus of 25% of the distance flown, which doesn’t count as Elite miles.

Flying Scoot, KFMs accrue at 1 mile per SGD spent whilst elite miles accrue at 2.5 miles per SGD.

Thanks. I'm KF 'NB' and flying SQ suites SYD-SIN-SYD, and SQ codeshare F on LX and LH to Europe and back, So as far as KF miles are concerned, I get 200%. But only the set 100% of KF elite?

Question for the brains trust here, wondering if this is 1: possible and 2: within the capability of the call centre in its current state.

- booked FRA-JFK for just after Xmas way back when they were first released. 3xJ savers
- due to non-availability some other sectors in this trip were not able to be booked initially
- maybe 2 months ago I booked 2 of the same PAX from above SIN-FRA J-advantage.
- I now see 2x J advantage for FRA-JFK on the same day as booked in the first point.
- SIN-FRA-JFK in J-advantage with the free stopover would be maybe 40k miles cheaper per PAX than what I have pieced together.

Can I split the first booking above and cancel 2 of the 3 PAX, then book those 2 PAX on the same flight at advantage rates (probably would need them to hold the seats while the miles are refunded) and then link to two itineraries so that it’s ticketed all the way to JFK with the free stopover.

I feel like it’s going to be a real pain in the $&@ to do so leaning towards not bothering unless someone can convince me otherwise.

You will get 200% elite miles and 200% KF miles for all sectors. For SQ and Star Alliance whatever is in the table is what you get for both KF miles and elite miles - one and the same ( I probably confused things by mentioning the tier bonus!). Just a side note, with SQ/Star Alliance codeshare it all depends on what class it maps to with the operating carrier (which can be mysterious), but as first class also earns 200% for both LX and LH operated flights, you should get 200% for those sectors also.

You will also get a tier bonus (25% of the distance), once you get to Elite Silver (KFES). These just add to your KF miles but don't count as Elite miles. And unlike QF, this is just 25% irrespective of status, it doesn't increase as your status increases. So, on your journey, if starting from zero elite miles, you will reach silver by the time you get back to Singapore on the return sector, so you should, in theory, get an extra 25% bonus KF miles for the last sector (SIN-SYD) (although timing of miles posting and upgrade to KFES may not work out for this to credit automatically, buts it's only 1000 miles anyway).

I think you answered your own question here, that doesn’t sound worth it to me

Hey guys,
First time user to book Singapore airlines redemption flights and need to understand the go with waitlist flights.

Looking to book return flights in business class:
MEL - SIN 1 day stopover - Milan.

Currently there is availability for all legs in the Saver category, however I'd prefer a departure time from MEL to SIN which is currently on waitlist, as it means the arrival time into Singapore is around 9pm, rather than midnight - (less tiring the following day)

How do you suggest I go about making this redemption booking? Do I just book the available legs first so I have a complete booking, and then somehow go on a waitlist for the preferred flight?

EDIT: sorry, found the answer on the sticky thread which I should have read in detail first.

Thanks in advance

Hi all, looks like I've got an 11 hour transit in SIN next week, arriving 9 pm and departing to LHR 9 am following day. Crowne is AUD$440, Aerotel is resistant to quoting my anything (website glitch maybe). I'm in J so have SilverKris. Any opinion on trying for the 'quiet rooms' in the lounge and seeing if I can handle a snooze on the recliners? Obviously not going be as comfortable as a bed. Any idea if pre-bookable or whether availability will be ok? Many thanks

Depending on the departure/arrival combination you may not have a snowball's or you may have a small chance.

For example, booked a revenue fare SYDMUC rtn for early 2023 in late July. Checked fare prices yesterday and Y has gone up from under $2k to $4.5k for the same flights and J has gone up to over $14,500.

If that's what revenue seats are now going for still 4 months out...

Hi everyone just a generic question like above with re: waitlists,

ive tried waitlists a few times and for me i think even booking almost a year out, i had 0 out of about 16 waitlist requests, maybe i had 1,

but given these odds, surely people dont rely on these clearing eg. make holiday plans, book hotels, book activites, book peopl, book friends?

wouldnt the smart thing to do is for example, find a flight that has an avaiable flight, and then use the waitlist for another class?

Yeah that's how I use them. Book confirmed J and try for F as waitlist or book confirmed J and try a better transit option as waitlist
