SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Anybody seen my mate MathNerd around lately? If he pops his head up can someone please tell him just how good the full colour extra thick card type BPs are SIN?

Now this is the type of post I like to see from you @Cruiser Elite. This is how a BP of a premium class should look, not the slop that MEL dishes out. It shouldn't even cost that much, as most pax are Y anyway, and get the flimsy paper one.
Thanks for the eye candy!
@Cruiser Elite I am also reliably informed that unfortunately the bean counters have confirmed coloured BPs are being removed from the network very imminently.
That's a terrible decision, and the bean counters need to keep their grubby hands from what little semblance of order there is still left in SQ, when it comes to this.
I don't think they realise that a significant portion of their pax (myself included) have premium (J or above) travel as a treat, not a regularity - especially with how hard it is these days to earn points and/or availability issues. A coloured, cardstock BP is a small reminder of the hard work that's gone into procuring such an itinerary.
I just shake my head at this and have read this elsewhere as well :(

J and F should have coloured BP's
A million percent agreed.
From a personal point of view I love collecting paper BPs

I still stick with business and first/suites should have/have the option of a full colour printed boarding pass. Many people, like to keep them and they do feel more premium.
A billion percent agreed.

My brother in laws parents are first time SQ J flyers from LHR to SIN today and have apparently been served 2011 Comtes de Champagne Rose in J, anyone ever had this happen to them?

SQ 241/242 is being downgraded from 777 to 359 :(

Both my F sectors are in J now.
Time to make some phone calls…

Yes just got the same for SQ 241 early nxt July, but I’ll wait for them to call, as the email says they will be contacting all affected customers. Well, that shudnt take then long as there’s 2 of us, plus a potential ttl of 2 others displaced from F. The last time this happened I asked and eventually recvd the original points and PPS value for F, and refund of the difference in fare from F to J.

I also got the email for a wait listed flight

Have to say, not very impressed. Sat down and gave the waiter my order - 2 fried eggs on white bread with sides of bacon, sausage, mushrooms & tomato. Took over half an hour to come out to me and when it did, part of the underside of the egg was burnt and the sides were lukewarm. Waiter said something about the chef being new but this is stuff even I can cook at home. Who knows what would have happened if I had have ordered something like the lobster scrambled eggs. Hoping onboard SQ262 shortly is a better experience.

Of course it will be better on board!

Does the caviar have any flavour? The last couple of times I have had it on SQ it has had almost no flavour at all.

Definitely had flavour but not as much as the last few times I’ve flown F. Was nice enough but wasn’t compelled to ask for a 2nd serving.

Were the 3 bottle of fizz for your personal serving, or was that staged for our benefit and not meant to be a SG marketing exercise ?
I flew in First earlier this year. The Reds on offer were a Bordeaux, a Burgundy and a Shiraz. I told the Flight Attendant that I couldn't choose between the Burgundy and the Bordeaux (assuming that she'd give a recommendation) but she insisted that I have both. Then for good measure she poured me a glass of the Shiraz as well. I think I was the only person in the cabin drinking reds so the flight would have ended with three almost-full bottles in the galley!

Lesson learned: if only one glass is required, one must be prepared to be very insistent.

got SQ24 coming up: SIN to JFK
How should one tackle this trek?

I'll spend a night in Singapore beforehand, arriving around 5pm, but found out my mates arrive at 10pm too. Should I do a late night session and sleep early on the flight?

We won't bother heading into NYC once we land in JFK because we have another flight the next day at 12pm to Montreal.
