SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I booked an A380 suites flight for my wife and I and we've been changed to a 777-300ER. It's a daytime flight (SYD-SIN) so it's not the end of the world.

As a couple who will enjoy a meal together should we choose CD or AC / DF?

Last time I chose CD but I've seen a lot of "influencers" who seem to choose the DF "pair".

Many thanks.

For first class it would be virtually impossible to enjoy a meal together with a window seat and a middle seat (AC or DF). How did the ‘influencers’do it? There’s no buddy seat dining and a fairly high wall (and aisle) between.

CD will be your best bet.

edited to fix grammar.

Flew ANA LHR-HND on 2 Jan we had a few hours to kill in the T2 SilverKris lounge. Worst lounge experience for a while (and I live in HBA!). Totally inadequate staffing levels (so no-one tidying up), 1 surly barman, terrible food and packed to the rafters with a mix of pax from SQ, NH and perhaps other flights. It's been a long time since I've been in an SQ lounge but it would surprise me if LHR T2 meets their reputationally high standards.

You were likely slumming it with the generic non Suites/First Class, non Solitaire PPS passengers in the non First Class lounge.

Need to up your game to get the proper lounge access like CruiserElite👍
Sadly true...no status with Star Alliance. But not at all close to a J pre-flight experience

It’s possible that a number of LH and LX passengers could have made the trek out to the annex and using the SQ lounge as the LH lounge at LHR is closed until mid Jan for renovation. Normally most LH and LX passengers would remain in the main terminal (where their flights go from ) and use the Lufthansa lounge. Posssibly even TP, LO and SN passengers as well.

For those who have arrived into SIN T3, how far is it to collect checked bags, enter Singapore, then re-check onward bags at Jewel?

I am doing this because of the onward journey being on different bookings, different airlines and onward flight being >12 hours later that night.
ie. arrive on SQ F in the morning, then depart QF F on the same calendar day.
Will be much easier to check bags at Jewel, then use TPR for arrivals access.

Any obvious risks I haven't accounted for?

Someone else will be able to provide more up to date advice but I have previously used the transfer desk and they sort the luggage for you. Jewel access for QF flights is later in the day, it is not 24 hours

If you don't need to access anything in your bags, SQ should check them through to QF for you. I had no issue getting them to check through to CX on separate tickets a few months ago.

See the T3 map for approximate walking time:
Not unusual for SQ flights to arrive at the A gates

(The blue star is approximate Crowne Plaza location)

Use the transfer desks to on check bags to a different airline, or just get SQ to transfer

There are also Smarte Carte storage landside but on way to MRT to city. Note they wont store laptops (at least the last time i was there last year in May- dont know why). For that you need to store them at the Smart Carte airside on Level 2 near Maison.
There is also Smarte Carte luggage storage at Jewel near the early check in lounge.

Thanks to you all!

I had no idea to ask SQ to check it through for me - never have been in this situation because of the risk of a misconnect.
The transfer desk option as a backup also sounds good, I always thought that was for getting onward BPs printed/passports sighted when on the same PNR.

This is great news!
