Which option would people here recommend use up some 154,000 KF miles?
  1. Lock in J Redemption "now" for AU-SIN-EU with stopover (either direction) for 2025H2?
  2. Waitlist for improbable saver fare for one sector in First (can use QFF elsewhere), dealing with replacing points as they expire along the way and risking not doing a premium SQ flight at all?
  3. Something else (please provide tips!)

I would lock in 1 ASAP personally

You can do both. Waitlisting needs points but doesn’t actually deduct them.

Waitlist your saver sector in First. Then buy the J redemption. If your waitlist comes through, you can pay the fee to cancel if you want to accept. (Keeping in mind expiration date of reinstated points)

Cristal is only a limited release at this stage, I believe it is rolling through different routes with SYD-SIN one of the routes in the first cycle. MEL might be in a later cycle if they continue with the offer.

Yes, TPR is available on arrival from a flight in F / Suites.

I'll be there next Friday and can grab a photo of the menu then if nobody has done so by then.
Just to update on Cristal - 2 bottles loaded SYD - SIN on SQ212 today, plus 2 of the Krug. Not bad for 2 adults in the cabin to get through.

The crew isn’t sure what the plans are beyond the current routes, but suggested it might be around for the longer term based on positive customer feedback so far.

I always prefer to lock in my flights, rather than wait list.

Personally when I go to Europe I virtually always will book one way flights, and in the main will also book with arrival and departure in two different airports/cities/countries.

Last time this was In LHR Out -FRA (But I have flown with SQ in and out of LHR, MAN, AMS, CDG, FRA, MUN, BCN, CPG, CDG, FCO, ZRH)
  • Unless you are only going to one city/region, it saves having to return back to where you have already been
  • This allows more flexibility, and also means that one can book at the maximum time out (My trips can be up to 8 weeks or so.....)
  • If going to UK (MAN or LHR) it minimises if you fly out (avoids if you go by sea or train) the extra levy that you pay for departing the UK which on a long have flight is hefty.
  • If your plans change it is also easier to find new flights as you can also choose to fly in/out of a different city.
A while back one way flights also had the wrinkle that when SQ changed the type of aircraft on a leg that you could online sometimes upgrade your J to F at no extra points or $ cost. So if ever SQ sent me an aircraft change notification I would see if it would work. Unfortunately SQ fixed that bug. :(

Thanks - definitely the plan to go in/out different cities, exactly which ones is the unknown as this is first time to Europe - and there are so many options!

Shame the bug was fixed but not a big deal. I convinced to just slum it in J and buy my own Cristal from duty free 🤣

I’m trying the SilverKris sling coughtail in the SIN T3 SilverKris lounge. It’s quite lovely!

Not too busy this evening, good buffet selection, although there’s a 45 minute wait for a shower.

I’m flying TK J this evening and decided to come here instead of the Marhaba Lounge that TK gave me an invitation for. A good choice, I would say!

I saw that they have downgraded their red wines since I was there in July 2025, hopefully this is only temporary

I need to book an award itinerary:

SYD-SIN SQ J Saver
SIN-KIX SQ J Saver
KIX-MMY NH Y Saver

Want it all on one PNR to protect from delays. SQ contact centre tells me they can't construct this because of "fare combinability" rules between SQ awards and partner awards. Have called twice - get the same spiel. Is this actually true or do I need to keep HUACA?

As a datapoint, i’ve never had any luck with this (eg, combining KF SQ saver J MEL-SIN-FRA with *A LH J saver FRA-BER). The general consensus over at Flyertalk seems to be that you need *A J saver availability for all sectors, but there have been a couple of instances I’ve read that ppl have managed to ticket this? The fare combinability condition is near impossible as you probably know given SQ doesn’t typically release many *A J awards. I actually got the LH sector added onto my confirmed MEL-FRA itinerary with the LH sector showing as ‘reserved’ on the itinerary when a seemingly less experienced agent immediately post covid managed to add the sector on for me. They said they’d call back once they figure out how to get the whole itinerary confirmed, but upon calling back they said they’ve spoken to their supervisor and there’s no way to combine two separate award categories.

Separately, if your 2 SQ sectors are only available individually - in my experience - you can’t get them combined due to married segment logic (again i’ve heard on FT of the odd agent who was able to do this, but not sure if this was related to KF/PPS status?)

Try filling out the 'Reservation Request form' you can download from this page. My understanding was that provided the Singapore flights were available in Saver you can construct a Star Alliance award - do note that this will be a higher redemption rate than Singapore Saver by themselves.

However, never tried to do this with a mix of cabins between the SQ and *A partner - that could potentially be causing issues.

Add another data point this is something that was easily possible pre-Covid but the rules soar to have since been altered to make it all but impossible to combine SQ and *A flights in the same ticket. I have tried every way I can think of to do this and not succeeded. As others have said, the issue is that if a flight is available as a saver award but not as a *A award, it cannot be put on a *A ticket.
