I managed to snag rewards SQ J MEL-SIN-FRA / CPH-SIN, yey! But it looks like I'll need to pay for SIN-SYD (oh the humanity!).

I haven't flown anything but J for a decade at least, but this trip I'm considering a daytime flight SQ Y+ SIN-SYD... then saw that Scootplus is $1,000 cheaper.

I understand the limitations of Scootplus but my only concern (on any flight, really) is seat comfort. AFF has a thread on SQ Y vs Scootplus (and the consensus was Scootplus wins), but can anyone provide a direct comparison to SQ Y+? I've never flown either.

June did Scoot Plus MEL-SIN and then 3 weeks later SQ Y+ SIN-JFK. Seat comfort was similar. SQ Y+ trumped by considerable margin, but not due to the seat, but rather due to the position in the cabin. I had the back row of ScootPlus and exit row (so no one in front reclining) in SQ Y+. So I think it all gets down to seat position. If both daytime flights, I'd be very inclined to either save the $1000, or spend it something that could bring me much more value than marginally better catering, IFE, and a nice feeling because of the brand. But that' me.

Yes, I'd go for Scoot over SQ in this situation.

I always go for a bulkhead seat in either situation and recently flew Scoot+ SYD-SIN and SQ Y+ IST-SIN, and really there was little difference with the seating. I wasn't impressed with the SQ catering, as it was basically Y class.

I flew SQ Y+ a few years back (so things might have changed). There is more room than Y but the same meal. We got a PDB and the seating is 2-4-2 (or 2-3-2 I can't remember). The Kris entertainment system is well regarded.
