Square Referral - $1000 in payments with no transaction fee (PayPal Alternative)

A friend of mine who I got onto points and has a business told me about Square promotion whereby you receive $1000 in fee free transactions for referring someone. You can read more about it on their website however they are essentially a PayPal alternative for the small business / POS type mobile card reader.

I thought this might be interesting for some as it accepts AMEX, Visa and MasterCard. It's could also be handy for Gumtree or other forum sales/purchases and if you refer the buyer/seller. As per usual make sure you are doing everything strait as it's just 1000 points.

I was thinking about this, and had a thought, you can sign up without having a business, as they say for gumtree payments for instance. If you were to then sign up a few friends/family members and with the free transactions just paid yourself with your own credit card you could effectively be earning frequent flyer points from a high earning Amex for free, as you are just paying yourself.
So every referral you get $1000 free transactions meaning that on a 1.5ppd Amex you could get a free 1.5k points for every referral.

Or keep your referral bonus free transactions sit there till you need to make a minimum spend on a newly churned credit card.

Same deal applies $1000 free processing. Square is actually a great POS app and this is a great way to trial it.

Makes me wonder were bank bank merchant fees are going in the future given the price of a terminal.

it may work if you spread it out but don't do too many same card large transactions on the same day. new amex cards seem to be blocked by amex and then square up deactivate your account . beware they are known to close accounts without any warning and hold your funds up to 90 days unless you refund it back onto the same card, if they suspect fraud.
