Srilankan Enters Interline Partnership with VA

Or even QR using BA's Avios.
QR owns 25% of IAG and is the majority shareholder so makes sense for BA, IB and QR to all use Avios.
Wouldn’t be surprised if IAG purchases the majority stake in TAP Portugal when the Portuguese government flogs them off next year either.
In a perfect world QR would assert their authority over BA and IB and remove their awards from QF too and make them available to VA 🤣
*wishful thinking obviously*

Could VA join OW though, seriously, even though everyone says no.

Apparently their systems would not allow them to join any network alliance - would need significant investment (which is clearly not going to happen under Bain, maybe 🤔 under their new owners when they are sold off again).

I guess the ACCC would then look at the benefits and negatives for the Australian travelling public.
I’m not sure if membership in an alliance would lead to ACCC scrutiny. FWIW only joint venture partnerships where two airlines would coordinate schedule, fares, marketing and potentially profit share would constitute cartel behavior thus requiring ACCC authorization.

so theoretically VA can join Oneworld but if they then not do any of those with QF it wouldn’t require any approval from ACCC
