Hmmmm because there is no guide for limits etc I wasn't sure. To me they were almost the same.
Do you think I should apply again.
Minimum credit limit is $15k for that card. You probably shouldn't reapply with the exact same institution. You might get lucky if you tried the Bank of Melbourne and got the Platinum card. For $30k points, I don't know if it's worth opening another bank account and trying again.

i went to open a st goerge acount and ended up at the bank of melbourne branch to open an account

does that matter?
I dont know whather to apply for it or not? would the fact that ive applied for 4 cards in 2 weeks have made a difference, my score was still quite good
I know its not all about credit score though

So you opened a BoM account? Only matters I feel if you're going to make another application at the same bank. Might be less likely to be successful but maybe that's just the skeptic in me.
Where are you getting your score from? If it's one of those free ones then the likelihood of that being correct is minimal. If your score from those sites are around 600 - you're probably on a lot less than you think.

yes apparetnyl st george was taken over, bought over in vic by bank of melbourne,
so when Iwent to a st george branch, it was a bom branch,

im not sure whether to apply for another one

So are you people saying that the systems of BankSA/BankMelb/STG are all linked? I was hoping to apply at Bank SA, then move onto Bank of Melb, then St G. thus making 90K. Has anyone tried this?

Re: St george 30k pt no annual fee first year

BOM, St George, Bank SA are all westpac brands. Westpac has retained them as they feel there are some customers who would prefer to deal with a 'small' bank even thought they're all the one bank just with different trading names. The non westpac brand offering is the same just with different branding in each state.
Seems to be working as many believe them to be separate banks. Not sure about the linked credit systems bit but it does make sense.

Re: St george 30k pt no annual fee first year

Well that brings in another question: Is W/pac also linked in with these other banks?

My credit score was 640 odd before the application
It will probably be the last card I apply for maybe 6 months

As noted by others if you are usinga free service that rating may have little accuracy.

I think that you have now been knocked back twice in short succession?

From memory your income is lowish and as you have rental properties you may have loans on these?

Banks do not just consider credit scores and some organisations would factor it low. However just I caution everyone taking out credit cards is more than just chasing points and you, and everyone else, need to consider all the implications and risks for all aspects of your financial life in making numerous credit card applications.

From what you have posted in various threads you may well be set yourself up with some serious financial black marks with your current activity.

Yes some people including myself make numerous credit card applications. But you need to consider what the implications may be for your own circumstances and remember that credit card applications are not separate from other aspects of your financial life. If you have property loans for example you may wish to renegotiate the interest rate from time to time. Repeated credit card declinations may well affect that for example.

Great post!

So far one rejection only. I don't really intend to apply for any more unless something comes up. Yes I understand loans and the fact that credit isn't all about just credit cards.
I have two property loans and don't intend to get any more. For at least a few years.

Does a rejection count more negatively than a acceptance?

I remember the old credit system it simply was marked as "application made". Whether it was accepted or not.
I'm still trying to work out if its worth applying for the lower Amplify card.

FYI, I cancelled this card 10 months ago and still received the 30k bonus points under the $0 first year annual fee promo (even though T&C's exclude those who have held card in last 12 months) Bonus points came with first statement.

Damn - just got first statement. Met spend within days of getting card
No Bonus points :(

Similar situation here. How did you go fixing it?

I tried using the chat box (popup) but was just referred to call the CS phone line. I will wait another cycle before calling.

points devaluation for giftcard redemptions and product redemptions
"The number of points required to redeem Amplify Points for Merchandise and Amplify Travel will increase. For example, a Morphy Richards 4 Slice Toaster that currently is 17,600 Amplify Points will require 21,600 Amplify Points from 2 May 2017."

luckily no changes to frequent flyer redemptions just yet. However that may change in the near future...

"Are there any changes being made to Frequent Flyer miles, Donations, Financial Service Rewards or any other rewards? No, the number of Amplify Points required to redeem Frequent Flyer miles, Donations, Financial Service Rewards and all other rewards will remain unchanged."
