Credit Card Offers St.George Amplify Qantas Signature: 80,000 bonus Qantas Points (expires 30/4/25)

Every card can be cancelled online.

That is true. The experience can vary however. i.e Some cancel immediately, where others go in a queue and can take up to a week (hello ANZ....). Only an issue if you are trying to quickly prove your credit limit is lower as there is still the time it takes to report to the credit agency.

Far easier to than calling an operator, although if you were close to your annual fee and wanted to close, the operator may be the better option to avoid the hassle of the fee going through and then having to chase up to get it reversed as there is often a drama then.

this very weekend I cancelled my anz card via internet banking on Saturday, was closed on Sunday. checking today (Monday) it's already shown as closed on one of the credit report agencies.

super suprised how quick it was i guess they've streamlined the process.

So there's a birthday bonus? I never got mine! Are we supposed to?

BTW, I signed up once upon a time ago to the once-off offer with no extras upon renewing. What's the chance of asking nicely for something to keep me with them for the next 12 months?

bday bonus was 10% extra QANTAS points of your QANTAS points earn for the bday month (from memory)

Does that make sense?

and you're probably better off just signing up for another bonus points offer once the 12 month period is up. The incentives to stay were generally fairly small and I'm not sure they even offer incentives anymore?

Actually its 10% bonus of the entire spend for the last 12 months.
So in effect the earn rate is 0.825 points per dollar instead of 0.75, if you time your cancellation right.

Thought I'd reopen this thread rather than start a new one.

The current offer on this card is 80,000 Qantas points until 30 April 2025. You need to spend at least $6K within 90 days.

Note that St.George's exclusion period for past customers to get bonus points offers is now 24 months, not 12 months.

This is hugely significant and terribly unwelcome.

We now have St George's and friends at 24 months, NAB at 18 months, and Commbank, Amex and Qantas Premier with greatly reduced sign up bonuses. Throw in the increased lock out times for Qantas Insurance and it's looking increasingly bleak.

Agree. I moved onto churning health insurance as my primary source of bonus points sometime ago. Best thing is that you can't be refused a policy!

Commbank also has just moved to 18 months. Biggest downward trend in churning for a very long time.

I do the same but even then, Qantas insurance shifted from six month lockouts to 12. Plus I have just had the devil’s own job claiming from BUPA for emergency surgery - initially they said I’d been with them for less than two months, then they said there was missing data for a two month period at the end of 2023. They refused my claim twice and then made me sirve and provide my own paperwork to prove entitlement.

Funnily enough I asked if anyone was into churning health insurance a couple of years ago as I thought there was an opportunity going to waste. No one piped up at the time!

Which thread? Perhaps we need some new threads? Heath fund churning is now my primary source of bonus points.

I found though that it is usually better to churn health funds by signing up xx weeks off bonus, rather than airline points bonus.
