The thread on Ozbargain seems to suggest that the approval process is very long, people bring asked to send in validation documents multiple times and a lot of people with “excellent” credit score are being rejected.

I applied on 4/12 and sent in all the requested documentation on 5/12. Haven’t heard anything back. I rang their customer number and they said my identification documents will take 3-5 business days to approve - Is this normal?

I have a good salary and my current credit score is “very good”

This hasn't been my experience with StGeorge.

From what I have seen OzBargain members are often selective in the information that they provide.

I'd normally expect a week before a decision is made and extra details may be requested.

Also if you read through various threads on AFF you find that credit scores don't mean much.

Thanks for the reply! I guess I’ll wait a while before chasing it up then. Was hoping to do most of my Xmas shopping on the new card.

I understand that each bank has their own lending criteria, but doesn’t credit scores give you a good general indication of your credit history and what the banks can see when they assess your eligibility?

In short, no. Lots of discussion on AFF about this. One of the significant problems is that the info on those sites is inaccurate and the banks know this.

My colleague applied last week and went through a nightmare of a process. Eventually they did approve but I think it was 2 weeks all up to get it sorted. They had a back and forth about his tax returns.

I applied yesterday. All I got was that they will be in touch with me after 2 business days with no reference number or anything. Is this normal? Also can you post the link to the ozbargain thread. I'm inclined to believe the negative feedback. I've heard it from many colleagues at work about being rejected for Credit Cards despite being high income.

Get sorted as in get approved? Or receive the actual credit card?

There should at least be an application number.

Here’s the OzB thread Amplify Signature VISA Credit Card, Bonus 80K Qantas, 1-Year Fee Waiver $0 (Save $279) @ St George Bank

How good is the new feature to close your account directly from the internet banking portal. A couple of clicks and all done. Lining up the ducks for the next offer...

Agree. Intetesting how some, like Citibank, are waiting right to the deadline to implement this feature.

Applied 4/12. Payslip sent 4/12. ID sent 5/12. Approved 12/12.

Now to wait for card to be delivered to a local branch. Sounds like a nightmare from what everyone on OzB is saying.

In the past, the card delivery to the branch has been quite quick for me. ie in a few days after approval.

Do they SMS or email you when the card arrive at the branch? Or do you have to call up or go in yourself to check?

Sorry if this has been posted before but I'm not sure if they have changed the T&C - What exactly is counted towards eligible purchases for the bonus points?

"Eligible purchases do not include BPAY or BPAY equivalent transactions, fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, refunds, balance transfers debited from the card account, government fees and ATO payments."

Say for example, would my strata fees count if I don't use the BPAY option? I can pay via stratamax.com.au, Post Billpay or direct debit - Are these counted as BPAY equivalent?

What about paying council rates via PayPal and Post Billpay?

ZMan I have had no issues with any items that I have put on this card directly. We have multiple properties, multiple cars and lots of accounts that I process onto this card.

No issues as in all the payments count towards the bonus?

I have a $6000 strata special levy that I can put onto this but just wanted to make sure that it counts.

I just pay everything directly and don’t use third party processing. No issues for five in our family group and the numbers are pretty large.

Is a 1.5% credit card fee worth paying for to get the 80,000 bonus points?

Or just spend it on stuff that doesn’t have a credit card fee?

Edit: Just received my card 9 business days after applying. Was given the green one as they’ve run out of the black ones.
