Happy!

Have not received any emails about this update in things. But just logged in to my Qantas account and saw this.

Will be interesting to see if St George update their terms and conditions for credit cards to specifically exclude gift cards in the future.

Also, wondering how it is that St George was able to so quickly put points into my Qantas accounts. Every other time you contact a bank they'll tell you that it will take weeks or you have to wait until the end of the cycle. Assuming that these points were linked to the email that I sent at COB on Friday then this seems to have happened very quickly!

A massive thank you to Dr Ralph, for both encouraging me to pursue this and providing a draft email. Thanks to other members who also provided useful suggestions that I included in my email.

Can't wait to cancel! Oh and if I do get an email from St George I'll post it here.

Great result for you @BettyB

Now, are you going to push for compensation because of the delay in getting the points :)

I now wonder whether you were getting the points anyway and there was just a delay in posting?

Can't be sure unless I get an email. But given that the points should have been awarded at least 6 weeks ago this seems unlikely.

Ha!

No. Walking away as quickly as possible :)

Thank you for letting us know. Fantastic results! Congratulations.

As I said, the gift cards were never the issue. The bank probably had a glitch in their system to post your points in the first instance. Then it was the rep being incompetent or maybe just lazy.

Applied 14/1.

Card received 24/1.

$2000 minimum spend reached today (no WISH cards purchased!).

Card in bottom draw waiting for the points.

Just cancelled the card I received under the original offer of this thread. I called 3 times to try and get the annual fee reduced or waived, but they wouldn’t budge.

Just checking the exclusions for the minimum spend on this card to get the bonus points:

'Eligible purchases do not include BPAY or BPAY equivalent transactions, fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, refunds, balance transfers debited from the card account, government fees and ATO payments.'

Given the problems that @BettyB had I wanted to make sure that there was no possibility that any of my spend didn't meet the exclusions.

Anyone know what 'fees' definitely are? I paid my private health insurance premium. Could they claim that this was a 'fee'?

Also I assume that 'government fees' could include car registration and council rates but not CTP greenslip insurance?

Come on, they refer to bank charges, eg card annual fee, late payment fee, foreign currency fee etc.

FEES is a completely separate word. I can't see how it could be necessarily connected to bank fees as a stand alone word. You have to connect it to something for that interpretation.

Have you read about the problems @BettyB had? I'd like to avoid all potential problems. Get my points as quickly as possible and close the account without any drama.

It could refer to bank fees but for me it's very ambiguous.

13 days after I sent the email and about 10 days after receiving the 60,000 points I got the following email reply today from St George:

Hi BettyB,

Thank you for your email and I apologise for the delay in responding back you.

Your request was escalated to our Rewards team and the 60,000 Qantas Bonus Points has now been allocated to you, which you can confirm on your most recent statement.

Should you wish to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Was this something they recently added? I had signed up in Dec thinking I could hit the 12k minimum spend easy by paying off my car (which I did) . Car loan sounds like it could be a BPAY type transaction?

The terms do change from time to time.

You would be covered by those terms present when you applied for this card. I'd advise checking those particular terms, which were provided to you at that time.

First thing to check is whether you got the points for the transaction.

I did the pointhacks deal to get my son 200,000 Amplify points over 2 years.
I think he might be at a 7 figure number of Amplify points within a month.
He was the last in my immediate family to get this card. Getting to YES was a struggle.....
I guess my niece will be next as she has just finished her studies and started work this week.

why did i not think of this? 🤦‍♀️ Thank you, this small suggestion saved me a lot of trouble.

Bonus points were posted 30th of Jan. Yay! Eligible spend was hit by 12th Dec.

Off the topic. I applied this card in last year and enrolled QF rewards, St George sent me 2 free Qantas lounge pass. However, I also used the same card details to enroll Priority Pass membership and received membership card, in the statement it said 2 complimentary pass for primary card holder. I thought each reward program is eligible for one type of lounge pass. Thanks

I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with StG posting your QF signup bonus separate from the points of your first statement? My points for the first statement hit my QF account yesterday but the bonus is nowhere to be seen. Should I start worrying?
FWIW the spendings are to Immigration Department via paypal

First statement is too early, read the terms and only worry until after the required spend is made and the maximum period for crediting has elapsed.

Don't ever expect to get the bonus ahead of time. If it's early that's a plus and an unexpected privilege.
If someone else does, then they are lucky, does not mean you will.

I’ve met the required spend if the payment to immigration department is accounted in the calculations. My past experiences were they’re usually posted at the same time hence the question. Thanks for your reply nonetheless.
