Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can't seem to get the Star Alliance RTW ticket to find certain flights.

SYD - SFO (leaving 2 Nov)

SFO - NYC (leaving 17 Nov) - or can leave this off as a land sector

MIA (or NYC or any US airport) - CPT (can be JNB if needed) (14/15 Dec) This is the sector I'm struggling with, even if I try with a flight via Europe via Frankfurt as an example

CPT (or JNB) to SIN (flexible 1-4 Jan) - Struggling with this sector too

SIN - SYD (flexible 1-4 Jan)

The only flights I actually need is:
SYD - SFO
MIA - CPT - SYD

If you want help you probably need to explain more. Like, where are you looking for flights?
Is this the online RTW builder on the star website?

Can you not find flights or is it the D class (or similar) availability that’s an issue?

I’d consider expert flyer sub if that’s the case, might help you figure things out. Also I expect the FT forum would be more active for this topic.

I just got off the phone with Flight Centre a little earlier. Its due to lack of availability in the required RTW economy fare, hence why business is available though.

Yes, was trying to build in Star Alliance's website.

Yeah, that’s your typical issue. L class for economy. An expert flyer subscription would be worth it for you.

Do you have a specific reason for flying Star Alliance specifically (e.g., earning status)? The reason I ask is that for itineraries like this which involve crossing several continents, it is often better value to book thing out separately (i.e. flying say SYD > SFO and SFO > NYC on one ticket, then a separate ticket for US to CPT then another ticket for CPT to SIN and a final ticket for SIN back to SYD). So you might want to look at how much one ways are, versus a multi-city, versus one of these "round the world" products to see what you can find. I should also point out that there are some travel agents here in Australia who specialize in these complex round the world bookings, such as RoundAboutTravel that offer quotes.

Now to be perfectly honest with you, I've never used an official round the world ticket option from Star Alliance or the other global alliances out there that offer them. However, others have and encountered problems:
