Starwood's Q3 promo has been announced - and it's both great, and very disappointing.

Great, because you can earn up to triple points (if your stay includes a Thurs or Sun, double points otherwise), but very disappointing because of the huge list of non-participating properties, which includes:

AUSTRALIA
Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Darling Harbour
Sheraton on the Park
The Westin Melbourne
The Westin Sydney

I am going to make a motza of points on this one even though my 4 points and Westin sydney stays will not count.
Yet in true points junkie fashion I am still disappointed.Am coming up 4 nights short of requalifying Plat due to Westin auckland leaving SPG so was hoping for a double stay/nights promo.
So have had to bite the bullet and have arranged our mattress run!

Nice one. :) This is the first time in a long time I haven't needed a double stay promo to requalify for Plat, so I was pretty happy when the rumours said double/triple pts. Especially with a LOT of SPG stays left to book for our honeymoon next year, and almost all of Sept/Oct/Nov in SPG hotels. With those hotels not participating though...not so great.

Suddenly Hyatt's promo looks more appealing than it did yesterday.

Cheers

Looks like this promo will be the 3rd and final for 2011. I was quietly hoping for a double stay promo but oh well, not this time around though.

Currently I'm sitting on 17 stays / 32 nights so a double stay would have been nice for me.

I have 6 nights in Bangkok next month and I really didn't want to do a mattress run, but I guess I'll end up doing it.

I had a booking at Westin Auckland for November which they've obviously now cancelled, but they did give me a nice little bonus of 10,000 SPG points for the inconvenience!

Now don't tell them that I was planning to reschedule that trip...

Yes that little bonus came in handy-but my booking was to get me back to Plat.

Unlike HHonors where points can be used towards status ... ;) (although 10K is really only ¼ stay in Oz)
Ah but only base points which I doubt these would be classified as.
Also with SPG need 25 stays or 50 nights rather than 28 stays or 60 nights with Hhonors for top status.:)

I was referring to award stays/nights which indeed count toward status (hence my ¼ stay note).

Of course that's paid stays - last year I had 28 stays, 6 of them were Awards. ;)
