Status change from booking to stay?

A couple of quick ones:

1. If i am currently a blue member and book a 5 night redemption for later in the year and between now and then make Gold status will the 5th nights points be refunded?

2. If i am currently a blue member and make a booking for later in the year and between now and then make gold status will i receive the gold benefits such as free breaky, possible upgrade etc?

1. no - whatever you booked the rate as (even if points) is whatever the rate is

2. depends entirely on the hotel. half of people have noted their old status was not updated in the system, half have noted it was. to be safe, rebook if you can or call up the hotel. there is not a definitive answer to this question. if you absolutely can not rebook, then just call up the hotel and confirm with them. although at worst case you can tell them at check in and im sure there will be no problem honoring upgrades

As far as going up or down status when they open the booking in the system it will display current status from my experience. Just remember after reaching gold to set your myway preferences before checking in regarding 1000pts or breakfast. I am not sure what the default setting is.

Yes. If it is there a checkin. No probs.

I've had the situation of going from Silver to Gold mid stay and going to the front desk and getting b'fast vouchers for subsequent mornings.

if you can rebook though, do it. sometimes the status does not update. a lot of people have reported that.

this is important because a lot of the time (99%) upgrades are processed before you even arrive at the hotel. you'd rather have two chances to get exec upgrade (one through pre allocation, and one through asking at desk if that fails).
