According to Earning Status Credits | Velocity Frequent Flyer, "Status Credit earn on Delta Air Lines is coming soon". Two questions:
  1. How soon is "soon"? (I have flights in the US in December to book, and I'd like to know whether Delta will be an option or if I should stick with Virgin America, which already grants VA SCs.)
  2. Earlier in the week, that statement read "Status Credit earn on Delta Air Lines and Singapore Airlines coming soon". What happened to Singapore???
I expect that the people who know the answers can't reveal anything, but what does everyone else think?

I'm in the same boat!!

I'm booking 4 internal flights in the US in Dec/Jan through delta, only one of which Virgin america services but is at least $100 more than delta. I'm hoping that the status credit earn is up and running by then, but if it isnt, delta is the best value for money anway so not all is lost.

OT but how have you gone with booking your delta tickets? I used their multi city feature on their site but by prioritising schedule over price it wont allow me to access the different booking classes. Do you know a way around this without having to select each ticket individually?

That'd be right...I just got back from the US and had a whole slew of Delta flights (where I couldn't fly VX)!

I haven't actually booked anything yet, but did some trial searches last night. I was trying to book a YUP fare (actually MUP, but it's the same idea) with an indirect routing (using a multi-city booking), and had no luck on the Delta site, which only turned up fares costing thousands more.

I did some searching, and found this document: http://www.farecompare.com/downloads/HowToBookYUpQUp.pdf; that says that you can't book YUP fares on the Delta website, but you can book them okay via Expedia. I tried that, and found I could get the flights I wanted in the fare class that I expected. So I suggest you try that for your bookings.

Wouldn't surprise me if the deal with SQ takes a lot longer than expected. They aren't exactly the easiest airline to deal with.

...bump....any response from the Virgin reps out there on this one?....

I too have an upcoming USA trip and am keen to continue my QF inspired oneworld boycott since my status match.....realistically though I will be pulled back to them without Delta SC earn.........

Shame really. I'd really love all this to get sorted out soon because it's a bit of a deal breaker at the moment. QF and OW can get you just about most places on the planet with SC earn.... Come on VA, sort it out properly with DL and SQ and join *A so that those of us who are jack of QF/OW can really jump ship.

I think it's sort it out with DL OR join *A. Not and.

It's nearly a month since I started this thread, and the website still says "Status Credit earn on Delta Air Lines is coming soon."

Now that they've sorted out their codeshare agreement with Delta, could Virgin Australia please sort out the status credits situation?
