I just wanted to say thank you to all the members who posted about the famous Status Credit Runs. Due to a lack of travel up to my next account review, I was going to fall short of Gold by 50 credits. Obviously I didn't want to pay for QC or for the several flights to earn those SC's. Then, I joined your communtiy and read about JASA SC runs and all the different discussions about the best/most profitable ones.
While I've been quite boring doing a BNE-SYD-BNE in Y and J class gets me the required 50 credits and only takes 6 hours of my day.

So thanks for all the discussions, questions and answers. It has certainly helped me.

Jonathan.

That's great Jonathan....

Glad you were able to make use of the collective knowledge on the forum.

Keep on posting.

This is how it starts a simple ASA run to get over the hump. Before you know it you'll never fly direct again!

Good on you for doing it. Gold is very handy to have.

In such scenarios, I wonder whether the airline would be open to (a) giving you Gold on the basis you're only 50 SP out or (b) allowing you to pay the equivalent cost of the actual fares to buy the status points. It saves you 6 hours (plus airport taxes, transfers etc) and it allows them to sell your seat. Win-win!
