Hello brains trust
Qantas has cancelled a string of flights due to no longer flying my domestic route until June (at this stage).
They’ve issued a credit that I can use however on looking at the process it says “if applicable qantas points and or status credits will be added to your account”

does this mean I still receive the points and status credits for my original booking AND any flights I rebook using the credit provided?

I’m unclear what that particular comment is referring to, and I’ve heard of the original routing credit but that seems to refer to changed flights rather than $ credited for reuse.
Thanks very much!

You won't get anything unless you travel. Probably just a glitch with the ports they use for the voucher..
Like the booking will have a departure of QZY and an arrival port of QZW - maybe something related in the coding for those entries?

Thanks for the reply

I’m wondering how this works as if I don’t use the $ shouldn’t I be eligible for the points/ credits if I’m forced to find an alternative way to travel, just as per an original routing credit method?

What's this business of "off line point" ? Is this some kind of special charter?

No. It would not apply like that since you did not fly the flights you booked. Whatever new flights you use the credit voucher for you will earn for those per the applicable fare class and earning.

I understand what you want to do but you have to forget about those flights now.

The "off line point" thing is basically how QF creates these vouchers in Amadeus - they create a dummy booking as a "flight" between two fictitious points - that way the "booking" is a valid PNR but can't actually be used for anything until it is populated with real flights when the voucher is redeemed. IIRC the aircraft type is a 747SP - something that hasn't flown for decades. Quite amusing to read a PNR created in this way :)
