Hi VFF,

I've never used my FF points for a flight before.

If I use points to book a flight does that flight still qualify for Status Credits?

No, Reward flights don't provide points or SCs. You'll need to book a more expensive Any Seat redemption.

Booked Etihad J MEL-AUH-LHR/MXP-AUH-MEL and got status credits and points on the return leg!

You can get lucky sometimes...

My wife and I bought (using points) return business class BNE-SIN and were credited points + SC on the flight to SIN but not the way back. Does this mean we got lucky on the outward leg or should we claim for the return as well? It has been ~ 6 weeks since the flight and we are yet to receive anything for the flight back.

@TonyBrisbane, Seeing as Reward Flights are not meant to earn SC/points, I personally wouldn't push them for the other leg, they might take the first leg away! :(

Thanks for the heads up - it's not always clear when someone has done you a favour ...

By any seat redemption do you mean the saver and flexi tickets when using points + pay?

i've got 300k points and trying to use them to maintain my VA gold early on in my year so I have a chance at platinum
