Hi all,

I know that standard reward flights don't earn status credits, but do the non-reward redemptions earn status?
Referring to the pic I've attached, if you were to choose the economy saver fare one to the right of the business reward flight I've selected, would it be eligible for status credits?
It seems like a bit of a no brainer to me that at approx 10K more points over a reward redemption (for economy only obviously) to use it if you get SCs!

The option you have highlighted is known as an Any Seat redemption.

It yields the same Points/SC's based on the revenue fare. So yes, you would be eligible to earn SC's on that flight.

Normally Any Seats are terrible value though.

Yeah but it seems like good value in this case?

I have never flown Virgin, nor used their website, but it appears to me that to earn those SC you are using over twice the points as a normal redemption in economy. Your "10,000 points more - no brainer" is an apt combination of words. The 10,000 extra is over and above a business reward.

Yeah but it seems like good value in this case?

I wouldn't say it's good value, although it is significantly cheaper than the other Any Seat redemptions because the revenue fare has also been reduced.

I'd still put my money on the $199 cash fare.

Under 0.7c/pt, so I would say poor value overall. Better than a toaster however, but only just....
