This is a strange one.

I was looking at booking flights from HBA to ZQN (via MEL) and although plenty of flights and fare options (Choice, Flex. Business etc) were displayed, none of them listed any status credits.

Presumably status credits are earned on these flights? Can anybody shed any light on this please?

Maybe a silly question but were you looking at points flights or cash flights?

The status credit earn tables (for cash bookings) are here:

Australia's highest-earning Velocity Frequent Flyer credit card: Offer expires: 21 Jan 2025
- Earn 60,000 bonus Velocity Points
- Get unlimited Virgin Australia Lounge access
- Enjoy a complimentary return Virgin Australia domestic flight each year

Yes, I was looking at cash fares on the actual flight booking page, where the various columns list the different fares and conditions for different classes (Light, Choice, etc) that flight, e.g.

Choose your seat
Che cked baggage
Change flights more than 14 days to departure
Change flights less than 14 days to departure
Cancel for travel credit
Cancel for refund,

etc ... except there's no etc, ie missing in action are:

Food on board
Velocity Base Points
Velocity status credits
etc
etc

Yes I've noticed this too. It applies to all international flights, I suspect they supress this information because partner airlines may not be suppling this information through VA's Sabre integration. Easier to have no fields than null fields.

If you need to work out velocity points earn (for VA) it's ticket price * 5. Multiply again if you have status (50%, 75%, 100% bonuses for silver, gold platinum).

For status credit earn rate, use the milage calculator to determine disance and then use the status credit earn table.

For food onboard, you can assume that's true for J flights and buy onboard for Y flights. Catering for partner airlines will vary.

Thanks Milefest. It's really the stat creds that I'm interested in as I plot and scheme my way to retaining platinum status!
