Status Credits Question - MEL-AKL-LAX on Air NZ

Okay with the current 5x Amex bonus points deal with Air NZ I am looking for some flights with them in the future

MEL-AKL-LAX-AKL-MEL

This will be booked on one ticket with a few hours in AKL betwen flights.

They are separate flight numbers.. I want to credit my points/SC to Velocity

So will I earn SC for the MEL-AKL sector and then the AKL-LAX sector and the same for the return
OR
Is is treated as MEL-LAX ?

If it's the 1st option, its' 480SC, the 2nd gives me 360 return :shock:

I believe it will credit as four separate sectors, though I can't be 100% sure as I've never done it myself (guesswork based on what happens for other partner carriers, including VA).

FWIW, if crediting to Airpoints, SP earn would be 85 each MEL-LAX/vv for economy.

What class are you booking in?

Will be booking in Business which is classed as (C, D, J, Z) 2 Velocity Points per mile for points, and the same for SC when credited to Velocity.

I am going to assume it's 4 sectors as it's 4 flight numbers!
