Has anybody status matched recently to any other airline? Statusmatcher doesn't seem to have very many successful matches from Virgin.

There have been plenty of reports from people who've used their Velocity status to get a status challenge on Qantas.

I have gold VA for a few more days. Would be very pleasant to get that on QF - any suggestions plse??

I did this earlier this year...

I called the QFF phone number and put my case to them... They asked for print outs of my flight history (last 6 months) and a copy of my current VFF gold card.

Submitted and got a status match challenge 200 SC in 3 months which I blitzed by moving all flights to them. I found that QFF have better recognition of SG customers, where with Virgin I never even got a welcome back from FA's

Haven't been on a virgin flight in 5 months, Nothing from virgin, even when only 100 SC away from PLAT qualification

Cheers

Do people actually care whether the FA says "welcome back" ?? I mean really?

To the original question, QF won't status match, but do status challenge depending on your recent flight history.

Yeah, I care... having spent some significant time in the air with them to earn gold and so close to PLAT I wouldn't mine a little recognition for the money & time spent for work and personal travel..

On the last 4 Qantas flights I have taken CSM and FA's not only made mention of my status when boarding, I've had CSM's personally ask if they could assist with anything..

Better seat allocation also, virgin is lottery

Let me see...

You have gold/platinum benefits...
You were just in the lounge...
You just checked in at the priority counter...
You can ring a special phone number if you have any current difficulties...
You just got invited to board first...
You're sitting up the front of the plane...

But "recognition" is specifically to be found in two small words, spoken fleetingly as you pass the FA upon boarding...

I say again - really?!?

Yes who cares about "welcome back"? Nice but doesn't get me there any faster.

I must say I usually have a chuckle when being told where to find 3F though.

Not so much a "Welcome back" per se, but I have found that on QF, as an OWE, I've had CSM's personally greet me at my seat, handed out bottles of water before departure, personally apologised to because our flight was running late etc.

Nothing like that on VA as a Plat for the past 2 years. Sure, it's definitely not necessary, but sometimes these small things inspire loyalty and differentiates a brand and service.

You may not care about it, but in a business sense it is a good idea and not exactly time consuming. It shows that actually they may see the pax as being somewhat valuable.

Do you think 'status' is only about an on-board greeting?

I mean "Really" ? ;)

To the OP - yes, friends I am currently travelling through Sth America got a LATAM status match from VA Plat to LATAM Plat ( = one world Emerald, therefore Qantas Plat equivalent). BUT he was able to demonstrate recent international travel plus a full LATAM itinerary Oz- SCL - LIM-CUZ-LIM -SCL-IPC.

You seem to be fixated on the on-board greeting thing. However, "recognition" is part of the demonstration that the whole airline gets it, not just a pro-forma.

And its not just 2 small words .. if one gets 'recognition' while travelling whY, there are J class dinks, headsets and general civility available as well as better seat selection.

Take it or leave it. (Yes, 'really').

Mate, I am the one who is not fixated on the greeting.

Maybe re-read the thread.

Yes, myself and others recently reported our experiences, from start to finish, going through a status match from VA to QF. If you search in the Qantas forum you should find it.
